4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLiterally, this is probably—the worst school in Laurel. I've seen people having inappropriate interactions with each other and some people actually got pregnant. People would start fights and no one would do anything until 5-10 minutes later with security. The buildings are old and run down and people would smoke weed around the school. The learning in this school sucks believe me I graduated not long ago. The teachers would give the bare minimum to keep us busy and don't teach a single thing. I honestly wish I could've gone to another school to learn but sadly, I couldn't because of my parent's situation. The school doesn't support the students... I HAD A COUNSELOR WHO TOLD ME I SHOULD WAIT ANOTHER YEAR TO APPLY TO COLLEGE..... just because I had a mediocre GPA?? Anyway, I still applied to the colleges I wanted and I got accepted without their help.... STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL IF ALL POSSIBLE!!!Other Review7mo ago - Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school needs a complete makeover, renovation, demolition. It’s very dirty from not being cleaned on a regular basis. There are water fountains that cannot be used due to them not being lead checked. Some teachers communicate well and show they are passionate about their subject, and want students to succeed. It’s a crying shame that the name of MLK Jr is attached to this building that appears to be a relic from the dinosaur age. What in the world can we expect from staff and kids in such a poorly designed building and poor environment. It looks like a place to incarcerate criminals. I’ve actually seen better facilities for criminals than this school. Is it even in one of the building lists for renovation? Parents need to rise up a protest to protect their children. My child comes home telling of bullying, fights, edibles, BB gun and multiple other infractions that when reported the reply is a nonchalant reaction. Calling counselors is a waste of time as my child says “ they don’t care” it is true. The new superintendent needs to invite the children of DrKing to come see what his name is representing in Maryland. Fix this school please !!Parent Review9mo ago - Check out schools near 5805 Parkway Dr.

"Parents need to supervise their children instead of letting them run around the neighborhood’s un supervised. I see children running between houses leaving their bikes in the middle of the road. I am surprised that the kids have not been hurt by a car. "
