"It's a good neighborhood to walk the dogs in low crime also Walking helps build strong bones and muscles, which can help prevent injuries. It can also help with weight management, as being overweight can lead to serious health problems for dogs. "
  • Taliya Williams
"Not enough sidewalks …. And there are a lot of stray dogs that roam the area any time of the day , also people drive pretty fast so you have to always watch out for speeding cars "
  • Trulia User
"I think it’s a beautiful neighborhood to raise a family. The people seem very friendly and it close to at a lot of things and transportation is good."
  • Trulia User
"safety for kids playing outside and going to school with out running from gun fire. I want them to ay other places than the porch"
  • Trulia User
"There are three playgrounds within a 5 minute drive. But there are a lot of cars so there are a lot of car accidents. The kids have to be careful when crossing the street."
  • Trulia User
"Not really. Unique, just not so welcoming as a result, neighbors usually stay to themselves. However, there is a lot of loud music played at night no matter what the season is. "
  • Allison F.
"Nothing. This neighborhood is unsafe with a high crime rate. Most people are rude. Can’t have packages delivered cause they all get stolen. "
  • Trimmyma24
"My family does things together. Our neighborhood isn’t the friendliest when it comes to joining together "
  • Kaydeen C.
"Terrible neighborhood. It’s dangerous, filthy, and drug dealers everywhere. Only good thing is that I always have packages coming and they never get stolen off my porch. Other than that, it’s a trash neighborhood."
  • Tlbryant1127
"There are many families who live in this area, mostly young. It's generally a nice place to live and raise a family. "
  • Dianniarahman
"it’s dangerous around here, the schools are over populated and the markets are horrible and unclean."
  • Trulia User
"We have events on our block every July the last Saturday some times it girls night out on the block we decorate are porches"
  • Gary D.
"It's a horrible neighborhood. Dirty, loud, violent. Police don't respond to quality of life crimes: loud music, drug dealing, loitering, open marijuana smoking. Eateries are of low qualities. Neighborhood should be burnt to the ground. "
  • Good Neighbor!
"Like most areas in Philadelphia, Germantown is starting to see gentrification. People love the older Victorian style homes that are one of a kind. I've been here now for close to 10 years and the area is definitely seeing new capital investments, in [structures & wonderful people]."
  • Florence T. H.
"Every Neighborhood has its good and bad but My Aunt has lived in East Germantown for 60 something years and I lived there off and on but I love Germantown then any other part in Philly And Iam frm West Philly"
  • Ryan G.
"This area is ok! What I do like is that it is up and coming on development and if not now but later on it will be very good to live in"
  • Harrison C.
"Its easy for me to get downtown bus wise and easy access to the highway. I love the scenic surroundings "
  • Helen Y.
"It’s really quiet on my block and no noise and neighbors are polite. Safe environment for the kids. Kids could play outside and no violence where I live at"
  • Jabbarbryant
"plenty of places to walk your dog. several dog parks. will lift ahead at night. plenty of open spaces in the neighborhood"
  • Blessedchi90
"it's okay to live around here. just mind your business and ppl are pretty chill. Nice park n community center. kids have a few friends around. The K and the L bus runs pretty often so you can get to where you need to go."
  • Mayumi
"not really a great place to live but if you stay to your self you will be ok. I lived in the area for years and I really don't like it but the rent is affordable so that's the only reason I stayed so long but I am now looking for another house because I can't take it any more."
  • b r.
"I've lived in this neighborhood for 5 years and it's nice. The neighbors are friendly and social. Very low crime rate. Good schools in this area "
  • Stephanie C.
"The renovated Lovett Library is very kid friendly."
  • Stephanie C.
"There is Mt. Airy Day..A day of entertainment and arts and crafts vendors Cliveden House event..They re-enact the war of 1800 something..The Cliveden House is open to the public, with many food and craft vendors."
  • Athena L.
"My favorite neighborhood event would have to be the block parties & cookout because that's when everyone really comes together as a unit. Everyone brings different food so you can experience a lot of different cultures & backgrounds."
  • Athena L.
"You can find a lot of different cultures and styles here. Everyone is also always friendly and makes sure that their neighbors are OK. It's more of a big family than a neighborhood really."
  • Stephanie C.
"Germantown East is rich in its historic value and is also racially and culturally diverse. The thing I like best about Germantown East is that it's close to Chestnut Hill, where there are wonderful shops and places to dine."
  • Katharine S.
"Neighbors watch out for each others' kids like family."
  • Katharine S.
"Saturday morning and Thursday afternoon Farm Markets. Music and fun for all ages and LOTS of fresh food"
  • Katharine S.
"We have a great mix of people from all walks of life and cultures."
  • Oreodreams21
"I've lived in this neighborhood for 5 years. We have alot of good things here such as neighborhood, pubic transportation routes via Septa. Nights some blocks are well lit little hidden blocks may not be . Wister street is horrible from metal plates and the street is just jacked up... It gets hot sometimes around these areas it has peak seasons neighbors are all lind they speak. we have alot of abandoned cats in the area some pitbulls. wouldn't trade the diversity for anything... "
  • Smth93bm
"I have lived here since 1974 and I have seen people come and go. Our neighborhood is quiet except for we hear the children playing and having fun. It's a good Community for the most part."
  • Alice Y.
"I've lived in this neighborhood for over 3 years and it's quite because of businesses on the block closed on the weekend. Transportation is good and when I'm not driving bi only need to take one bus to work."
  • Telfreda
"It’s a blend of history and change. The new bookstore uncle bobbies speaks to the rich heritage Germantown holds amongst people of color, because this area of the city was run inhabited by quakers"
