About this House

This is a two bedroom apartment that is self-contained (separate gas and electric meters) and is one of five-unit in the "Garden Apartment" building.

The apartment is centrally air conditioned (natural gas forced-air heat and electric Air Conditioning system).

The apartment consists of two bedrooms, one full bathroom, a separate dining room with closets (four doors), a large living room with bay windows and a Galley kitchen that can accommodate a small table. All of the original casement windows were replaced with double insulated vinyl windows to reduce utility costs and dampen external acoustics.

The original kitchen was remodeled with updated flooring, wooden cabinets, a gas stove/oven and a refrigerator. The hardwood floor in the apartment was also refinished.

There is an onsite Laundry Room that accepts payments by a SmartPhone PayRange App or quarters.

There is one complementary assigned parking space for this apartment, one Visitor Space (shared by all five units on a first come first serve basis over a maximum 24 hour period) and available street parking.

In addition to the monthly rental, the tenant pays utilities (gas for heating and cooking and electricity for lights and air conditioning). The tenant controls the thermostat. The Landlord pays for hot and cold water and sewer charges.

Each unit has a small storage area in the utility room that is adjacent to the laundry room.

Non-smokers are preferred tenants.

The apartment is located on Silver Spring Avenue, in Silver Spring, Montgomery County, MD 20910.

The apartment building is 1.3 Miles from the Silver Spring Red Line Metro Station (about a 4 minute drive) and1.7 Miles form Takoma Red Line Metro Station (about a 6 minute drive). The building is about one mile from downtown Silver Spring (Whole Foods, Theaters, Shopping, Restaurants, etc.). The Montgomery County RideOn bus passes by the property.

The apartment is two blocks from East Silver Spring Elementary School and Montgomery Blair is the assigned high school.

Lease is for a minimum of one year. Montgomery County requires an option for two year lease.

Owner pays for hot water, cold water, sewer. Tenant pays for gas (cooking and heating) and electricity (air conditioner, etc.). Non-smokers are preferred.

We love ESS. It is a focus school so class sizes are small, and it’s a smaller school with mostly walkers. Two of our teachers have been fantastic, one was not and resigned but the administration communicated well with parents and ensured a smooth transition. I like how families are so engaged with the school and practically everyone comes to school events. The school also has a magical atrium garden that grows tons of food for students, including grapes, strawberries, paw paws, and salad. The school is diverse and always communicates in 3 languages (English SpaniSh and Amharic). If you want a school with engaged families, good teachers, and diversity, come here!

The neighborhood listserv keeps us connected and in the know as to what is going on in the community - both socially and politically. Holiday parties, block parties make this community a home. A neighborhood of government, non-profit, and education specialists lends a quiet civility to the area.
