What Locals Say about Fairview

"It’s a more affordable area to live and it’s close to downtown. There are problem areas in the neighborhood, certain streets are not safe. I moved away after being mugged outside the grocery store. "

"I have lived in this community for 40 years. The people that live here are for the most part decent and hard working and the neighborhood has an active community council where residents can get involved or have their voices heard. The community has a mix of people from every walk of life and is one of the most diverse in Anchorage. There are areas of concern surrounding some parts of the neighborhood where social service agencies provide services and undesirable negative externalities remain unmitigated. Yet in those areas a person can still feel safe however although I wouldn't want to own a home or business adjacent. These areas that are challenging and the others this community face are not insurmountable. The neighborhood has easy access to parks, trails, sports complexes as well as venues for concerts, sporting events and other cultural attractions. Someone looking for a place to live and grow with a community and make a difference in the world would do well to consider Fairview. The future of Anchorage passes through Fairview."

"The blocks around the elementary school are lovey, relatively safe and nice views of mountains. I never leave anything valuable in my car and don’t go walking after 10:30p. "

"There is a school and parents always walk their children back and forth.there is only 1 child on our block. many young working people here."

"Some drivers cAn be inconsiderate. Traffic gets pretty thick on the main roads here. Lots of school buses and fair share of police patrolling. "

"Roads aren’t laid out ideal for Young kids to be out playing. Kids that walk to school have no safe way during winter, roads are not safe enough for them IMO. Lots of cars driving through the night. "

"It’s quirky with a mix of low/mid and mid/high incomes. The neighborhood is very close to shops and parks. "
