3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt’s amazing here, I couldn’t be happier. A big point in middle school is not to be over the top academically challenged, and instead a lot on building a social life and experience. This doesn’t mean that the academics are bad,I’m learning a lot, and I am not overwhelmed or stressed. I have seen very very little bullying, virtually none. It’s not an elementary school, so the teachers aren’t gonna come up to you and specifically help you on your grades unless you ask them too because they have 100+ students. Also the school lunches are great, I highly recommend.Student Review6mo ago - Washington School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school gets overlooked. This IS the elementary school for downtown/City Creek Salt Lake City. It has incredible special classes like art and library that even the kindergartners get to participate in. It has very caring faculty members. The school counselor teaches character building and gives a friendly greeting each day to each student. It has an incredible preschool program that many other elementary schools in the district do not have.Parent Review2y ago - West High School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThere is no policy that will make students go to class in place. My daughter learned early on how easy it is to sluff... Yes we had discussions... but kids are sluffing and walking around the school during class and nothing is being done about it. My daughter has been in trouble because of the teachers lack of getting assignments graded on time. Poor communication between parents and teachers as they never email you back about student progress or anything else. Fighting is always happening, and I feel a big part of that is because these kids are not going to class, nor are they being forced to.Parent Review1mo ago - Innovations High School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageInnovations early college high school is very underrated in the state but it's very good. You can get help in anything whether it's emotional or academics. There are tutors who can help you in your assignments as well as your mentors, plus teachers and staff. They will help you achieve your academic goals, whether it's graduating early or not, taking college classes early etc. I really do recomend this school. You even have stufy periods where you can work individually. it's not like other high schools where you have 4 periods a day and 2 hours a class. They as well offer classes at the nearby high schools that innovations doesn't have. It's a very welcoming school and easy to make friends no one judges. And parents/guardians get updates on the students assignments and grades etc.Student Review1y ago - Innovations K-8

"it's a great neighborhood, if you're able to pay the prices. People mostly keep to themselves. There's a Harmon's in walking distance, but bewary of the guy who drives through the neighborhood at 3 AM with a noisy muffler. "

"Easy! Everyone is coming to downtown and it takes 15 min to get into north salt lake. It takes about 10-15 mins for my wife to walk downtown past all the city commuters. "

"This is a great, mostly quiet area to live in, convenient to almost anything/anywhere! Beautiful historic buildings surround you: Utah State Capitol @ top of hill, LDS Church Temple / Headquarters @ bottom of hill with several tower condominiums having stunning views of the mountains and the valley below. Walking distance to the "New Downtown" with tons of restaurants, shopping to satisfy anyone, tons of culture and entertainment within a 6 block walk! Directly ON US-89 with many main thoroughfare surface street routes, and less than 5 minutes to I-15 AND I-80 for commuters, Only 15 minutes to SLC International Airport - cheaper to take a cab than to drive & park! Many parks, historic sites, cultural opportunities nearby. TRAX train and city bus line just a few minutes walk away, Amtrak station 5 minutes away. A dozen great Ski Resorts within a 45-minute drive. This neighborhood started in the 1800's as single-dwelling residences with many children, but has evolved over time to include many condominium projects that are primarily for couples & singles. Young families are beginning to make a comeback however. Ensign Peak is a couple of miles to the north, UP the mountain and is one of my favorite spots with stunning views of the entire south and western valley and the Great Salt Lake / Antelope Island. (You will WORK for that view however, as the climb is significant, but doable with a rest stop or two along the way.) The DOWNSIDE is the steep terrain on all 4 sides of Capitol Hill (think San Francisco on steroids!) The hill is NOT gentle and sloping, it is a MOUNTAIN and is steep. It is "hikeable" and is only 2-3 blocks to the level of the State Capitol, then returns to a mountainside again. A great place to visit and a wonderful place to live, with most housing very reasonably priced compared to the suburbs of Salt Lake City. The Downtown is being rebuilt and bringing several thousand new residents - Capitol Hill is convenient, but away from all the noise!"
