Read what parents are saying about West High SchoolThere is no policy that will make students go to class in place. My daughter learned early on how easy it is to sluff... Yes we had discussions... but kids are sluffing and walking around the school during class and nothing is being done about it. My daughter has been in trouble because of the teachers lack of getting assignments graded on time. Poor communication between parents and teachers as they never email you back about student progress or anything else. Fighting is always happening, and I feel a big part of that is because these kids are not going to class, nor are they being forced to.
Posted by a parent on 3/21/2024Hi! I have four children and my youngest has been attending West High School since her freshman year. I highly recommend West. My older children went to Brighton High School. While Brighton was a good school, I much prefer West. West has a diversity of students from different backgrounds. I have found the West students to be harder working and kinder students. West offers an advanced program through their Baccalaureate Career Related Program. My daughter has finished almost all of her high school classes and will be taking SLCC concurrent classes at West next year.
Posted by a parent on 6/21/2022This school is a joke, no communication, short notice for seniors, no notice of changes to ib , ib seniors where expected to do 80hrs community service told was waved because of covid informed may of senior year required again had to drop ib , teachers don’t put in any grades until week of grades are due at best some the night of , you just have to hope your grades are good , and if there is a mistake too bad or they lost an email of work or a paper you have to find asap . This school is an utter disappointment so glad to be done with
Posted by a parent on 5/31/2022This is the oldest school in the state, but has fallen to be the worst. It is a real jungle.
Posted by a parent on 3/20/2020The current administration is a complete failure. Two years under the new administration has resulted in a chaotic school. Some staff have left to escape the zoo, while many others wish they could.

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageA quiet powerhouse in the state, Ensign is a fabulous resource for the community. Rated Exemplary for many years by the state, and a standout in the city. This small school inspires loyalty and dedication from families as it inspires and provides personalized instruction and care to students. We can’t say enough about how valuable the educators at Ensign have been in our children’s lives.Parent Review5mo ago - Franklin School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school gets overlooked. This IS the elementary school for downtown/City Creek Salt Lake City. It has incredible special classes like art and library that even the kindergartners get to participate in. It has very caring faculty members. The school counselor teaches character building and gives a friendly greeting each day to each student. It has an incredible preschool program that many other elementary schools in the district do not have.Parent Review2y ago - M Lynn Bennion School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a parent of 4 children who have attended The Madeleine Choir School. My last child graduated this past year and will head off to high school. ALL of my children reflect on their time at the school as instrumental in their growth both academically and emotionally. I LOVE that the students are instructed in courses of Latin, Spanish/French, fine art, music, music theory, violin, theology, along with the core subjects of math, science, history, technology, etc. Their learning experience is enhanced by the performances, international travel, and community service. The faculty provides personal attention and adjusts to varying levels of learning needs. In my experience, any difficulties my kids encountered in their academic coursework were met with encouragement from their teachers. This rewarded their patience and reinforced a sense of accomplishment that comes with doing something challenging. The community of parents and faculty are welcoming and there are many opportunities for involvement. We still maintain friendships with families that we made while our kids were young. My kids still have friends from their classes and look forward to the annual concerts as an opportunity to reconnect. This is a unique and exceptional school!Parent Review10mo ago
