Jason and Michelle have an awesome property, with house and surrounding land. Comfortable beds, spacious kitchen; the living room, den and back deck are great places to hang out and relax after a busy day. Plenty of throw blankets and comfy couches to stay cozy. The land is beautiful and serene, I barely had a chance to explore and I want to do it again and dedicate more time to it! Interesting native plants and insects around, things I've never seen back east in NC. Jason and Michelle were incredibly kind and accommodating. Thanks for a great visit, hope to come again soon!

The home was cozy and very peaceful. It had everything we needed and more. The kitchen was very well stocked and the labels made everything easy to find. We saw deer and rabbits during the day, and a million fireflies in the evening, it was beautiful.

We loved staying here, everything was so clean. Jason and Michelle were super sweet, extremely easy to talk to and so knowledgeable about all things nature. It was amazing they let us meet their cute little pigs, Sweet P and Ringo and then a hike on their 60 acre property!! It's the perfect location, I will absolutely come back.
Things in the area I'd recommend:
-Round Mountain Creamery Goat Farm tour and cheese tasting!
-North Carolina Glass Center for glass blowing class
-Chestnut restaurant in Asheville
-Llama hike at Earthshine lodge was rain or shine so we went on the rainy day of our trip!
-Urban Orchard Cidery (the 1st Saturday of every month the DJ plays 80s vinyls, it was awesome)
-Tupelo Honey Restaurant- best fried chicken Mac and cheese waffle, ever

We wish we could have stayed longer, would have loved to have a longer hike exploring the property. It was gorgeous.

Oh my!What a great host always attentive and even makes trips to the place to make sure you have all you need. The place is so cozy and homey and beautiful. His wife even stopped and asked if she could get us anything on her way into town. Jason was so sweet and accommodated us when we had a situation. I wish we could just live here. (lol) We immensely enjoyed our stay and hope to come back soon.

Our family had a great stay at Jason and Michelle's place. The house was exactly what our family needed; plenty of space and nearly our other family members. Jason and Michelle have a wonderful piece of property and we enjoyed hiking the trails around the house when time permitted. They were excellent hosts that showed us their pigs and gardens and taught us about the local wildlife, plants, and flowers. Wish we had more time to be honest. We'll be back.

Jason's place is a hidden gem! Tucked away in the rural mountain community of Fairview, the property was ridiculously a lot more than we expected! The photos and description does not do justice to the property or the surroundings. As you get off on the gravel road towards the cottage, our minivan did just fine (it's more like a good sized 3bed/2bath home with living room, family room, dinning area, a good sized kitchen & a beautiful deck. The owners also own a large wooded mountain on the opposite side of the gravel road with walking trails.

Open to short term rentals with a minimum of 2 weeks. Pets are negotiable. Owners will handle garbage removal for a fee of no more than $60 per month. Landscaping and yard maintenance is included.
This property is off market, which means it's not currently listed for sale or rent on Trulia. This may be different from what's available on other websites or public sources. This description is from May 01, 2025

"it's nice and quiet with a country feel but can get to downtown Asheville in 15 minutes. The schools are very good and it's a great place for families. "
  • garysl1949
"I have lived here for 20 years and am happy we picked this area and this subdivision. It's quite and the people are friendly. We take good care of the the streets and each other. Very pet friendly and good walking and bike riding area. There are a number of community volunteer places nearby. Post office, grocery store and library just around the corner and an elementary school and a middle school within three miles. Plenty of gas stations and a number of points of interest as close as 15 miles and certainly within 50 miles. Lots of hiking and bike riding areas nearby."
  • lexashade
"Fairview is perhaps the most desirable area in Western North Carolina and certainly a very desirable area within Buncombe County. With the addition of the five lane highway, Highway 74A, the Fairview Community has seen tremendous growth. The Brush Creek Valley Area of Fairview is highly desirable due to the close proximity to top rated schools such as Fairview Elementary, the newer Cane Creek Middle School and A.C. Reynolds High School. The local community pool is located on Lower Brush Creek Rd. and is just minutes from Upper Brush Creek Rd. On Upper Brush Creek Rd. is a hidden gem that only locals know about. That hidden gem is D & R Carp Lake and Grill where families can enjoy a day of fishing tournaments and eat at the grill which serves the best burgers and steak sandwiches in the mountains. Quiet, peaceful and secluded yet just a few minutes to the main Highway 74A which takes you in one direction to the city of Asheville just 6 miles away or in the other direction enjoy a peaceful drive up the mountain past the continental divide to the lovely towns of Gerton, Bat Cave, Chimney Rock and Lake Lure where you can swim at the beaches or enjoy a day in the boat. Hendersonville is also close by and Cane Creek Rd. joins Fairview with Fletcher, Arden and South Asheville. Fairview is a tight knit community where parents are very involved in their children's schools and sporting events. It is not uncommon to have half of the parents on a field trip at Fairview Elementary. There are many things for the kids to enjoy in area such as playing in the creeks or swimming holes, basketball at the school, swimming in the community pool and AWANNA which is a program with games and activities for the kids and Wild Life where 100's of teens get together at a large barn for a supervised night of games and activities and field trips. You can't beat Fairview as one of the best places in the country to raise kids. "
  • damalchows
"You wont find a better area, because, the subdivision is small, yet the roads were adopted by the county, minimal HOA fees, best schools, great views, etc etc. LIve in the country, yet you are so close to everything.."
  • Jsvarney
"This is a very convenient location while still being in the country with wonderful year-round views. It is 15 mins. to Asheville, 15 minutes to Arden and 20 mins. to Hendersonville. The backyard is fully fenced for children and pets. There is a wrap-around deck. Newly constructed double-car carpot. Clean landscaping."
  • Susan
"Beautiful (wooded, wild flowers), a habitat for deer, bears, squirrels, hawks, etc. Wild berries grow along the road. The top of the mountain is abt 4,000-4300 ft and at least 12 degrees cooler than Asheville. You can travel through clouds as you descend Flat Top Mountain Road. Residents are mixed-some are year round and others are seasonal. Very few with school aged children at the higher elevations. There is a gated community at the very top of FTM road, with a small lake/pond and shared acreage."
