This school has proven to offer zero support and motivation to students to help strengthen their goals. The majority of staff aren't provided with tools which enable success. This seems directly related to the principal's hands off attitude. The lack of mentors & resources that should be offered are replaced with ethical dilemmas. Students aren't prepared for the next year's work or college! For Juniors, there is a bare minimum foundation to encourage students to attend college. Bare minimum information on different colleges, what they offer, and very little about fasfa help and possible internships. Students need to research and sort this out on their own or with their parents. As for the uniforms? It is NOT Enforced. As for safety, the "School Safety Officers" sit draped in the lobby chair and fail to ask for identification of anyone entering the building. They just ask to sign in any random names and they are allowed entry into the school building. Adding, during dismissal, they remain hovered in the school doorway due to the cold weather, instead of patrolling the designated areas (perimeters) of school buildings &surrounding areas during the morning and afternoon dismissal interacting with students to create a cordial space. Look at surrounding schools where the school safety agents' actually perform their duties as per their job descriptions and create a respectful space for students. The environment needs supervision.

I have spent three years at PS29, serving both as a SLT member & on the PTA board. I sought this school out for their academic success, after school programming and their self reported Anti-Racist Anti-Bar values/mission. Holistically the PS29 administration and larger parent community are not a safe place for Black or POC kids. The school lacks the fundamental education & training to safely take care of Black and POC kids, due to a lack of open collaboration with parents, an all white staff equity committee & an all white administration that when confronted with racist attacks between students or staff are quick to minimize the incident, question children's understanding of the event, parents reactions and are neglectfully slow in making meaningful change. My children & others have experienced overt and covert expressions of racism, prejudice and bullying at this school. My advice to parents of Black and non white passing kids - organize discreetly. Don't trust the administration. White parents speak up about how the school is run. Ultimately, this comes down to leadership and how complaints like these have been repeatedly hidden from the school community and public out of fear of legal action rather than the kid's safety and well-being. From my own tenured experience, claims of anti racist education for teachers , and most importantly parents, is performative to check a box not meaningful integrated community engagement.

Worst school ever. All of the teachers and students are rude. People have no spatial awareness when in the hallways. Teachers get mad over the littlest things to show profession when they're just making themselves look disgusting, especially teachers you don't know. Bad communication with parents and cares about middle schoolers more than high schoolers. The Earth Science teacher can't teach hence the statistics of people passing.... Everyone is very judgemental here and it sucks.
