Description

Most listings ask you to choose between private acreage and city convenience. This property gives you both, offering 1.22 acres of open lawn and mature timber, county taxes, minutes to Kennedy and Xavier, and a walk-out lower level with a second full kitchen.
Picture the drive home. The pavement holds the whole way, the houses pull apart, the trees rise on both sides, and then the land opens: 1.22 acres of lawn rolling back to a wall of mature timber, with a two story home set in the middle of it all. Before you even park, you feel it: room, quiet, and the rare sense that everything you can see belongs to you. Mornings here begin with sunrises over the timber and deer moving along the tree line. The street is named Deer View for a reason. Most properties make you pick between land and location. This one never asks. Open the front door and the two story entryway rises above hardwood floors. A grand staircase climbs ahead, and the home sorts itself the way larger homes should, with a formal living room to one side, a formal dining room to the other, and a dedicated office for the days you work from home. Then the back of the house opens up, and this is where the home was built to live. The great room, anchored by a fireplace and wrapped in windows, runs straight into the eat-in kitchen with warm cabinetry, granite countertops, a glass tile backsplash, an island with seating, a double oven, stainless appliances, and a pantry, with casual dining in between and direct access to the deck. Stand at the sink and every window frames your own ground. Main floor laundry and a half bath carry the daily load. Upstairs, the primary suite delivers a walk-in closet and a private bath with a dual vanity, jetted tub, and walk-in shower. This level is joined by 3 more large bedrooms and a full bath, ensuring plenty of space for family or guests. Go downstairs and watch the home open a second time. The walk-out lower level was recently finished from end to end and lives like a residence of its own. It features a brand new full kitchen with quartz countertops and stainless appliances, a spacious family room stepping straight into daylight, a 5th bedroom with walk-in closet, an entirely new full bath with a soaking tub and glass shower, a bonus room, a huge storage and workshop area, and even plumbing already in place for a second laundry. It is completely ready for multigenerational living, extended guests, or as the floor everyone naturally migrates to. The big-ticket items are handled too: new central air, a new septic tank and leach field in 2019, and a new roof on both the house and shed. Outside, the deck overlooks a backyard built for both halves of life, featuring open lawn for play and projects, mature trees for privacy, professional landscaping, a stone retaining wall, and a shed with power and interior lighting. The oversized 3 stall attached garage adds high ceilings and serious storage. You are positioned perfectly with county taxes, hard surface roads, and Kennedy and Xavier in minutes, with shopping and the interstate just beyond. Close to everything you need, with room for everything you want. Some homes give you a yard. This one gives you ground. Schedule your private tour and come walk it yourself.

"I do not have any personnel knowledge of public transportation as I don’t utilize it but I do know there is a bus stop about a block from our residence. With the change in seasons and time change this weekend, people will be coming out as weather permits. There will a reunion of sorts since we’ve finally ventured out. In the Spring there will be garage sales, summer will have festivities all over the neighborhood & surrounding towns. Fall will welcome kids back to school & winter will have Christmas decorations & lights in the neighborhood "
  • Marcy Boyd
"Neighbors are all friendly. Summertime there are planned get together and spontaneous gatherings. Kids ride their bikes and the little ones ride trikes or big wheels. There is a mix or generations with young families up to retired people. "
  • Marcy Boyd
"Nice people, dog friendly and a bit older so kids not around much. Yards are kept up, snow removal becomes a commmunity affair unless snow large amount at one time. Then the paid snow removers are brought in. "
  • Tara Wilford
"Friendly, safe and easily accessible. It’s a bigger city with a small town feel in Iowa. Lots of great restaurants!"
  • JoAnna S Branquinho
"I’ve lived here 6 years and love it. The community involvement and report is literally everything we could want and more."
  • Treeamina Keyes
"I’ve been living here for a couple of months and it’s very quiet. The neighbors are very nice. They speak to you. I like it here. The kids are always outside playing which is nice the neighbors barbecue all the time."

  • Cynthia Van Den Baard
"Dogs not allowed in our HOA. I do see people walking their dogs in our neighborhood and they clean up after them. "
  • Aboum B
"I live there for 1 year and most of neighbors are friendly, the area is so quiet . I believe to be the same in the future. My friends also are planing to move in this area , they love it. "
  • Debra Rosemary Gagnon
"I love the old, beautiful homes... There's plenty of awesome people living in them, too. My kind of people. ❤️"
  • Trulia User
"Even though it's a family oriented neighborhood, ALWAYS KNOW WHERE YOUR CHILDREN ARE, WHO THEY'RE WITH, THE ROUTE THEY ARE TO TAKE TO GET BACK HOME, AND DO SURPRISE CHECKS ONCE IN AWHILE! That's what kept me on my toes!!!! "
  • Trulia User
"I've grew up in the country I also have lived in town I lo I live downtown I get along with everyone"
  • Trulia User
"Neighborhood block parties are fun. It's a chance to meet new people and their families. The kids can maybe find new playmates."

"Not a good family environment. Great sense of community spirit. The most beautiful houses and beautiful people in the city live here. "
  • Trulia User
"it's not a safe neighborhood. there are gunshots on a weekly basis. I do not recommend anyone move to this area, especially if they have children. we have seen police presence, high speed chases, drug deals in the street, people walking their dogs off leash. it's not safe."
  • Julikrathje
"People's yards are large and well maintained as well as pride of ownership shows! Close to shops and restaurants but this neighborhood is quiet and the neighbors couldn't be friendlier."
  • Trulia User
"A dog park would be nice and trash cans and bags available through out the area so that dog owners can clean up "
  • Trulia User
"Very quiet and well maintained. Mostly older couples. Not a ton of younger kids but very kid friendly."
  • Trulia User
"Neighbors are friendly and kind. Neighborhood is great for taking walks and bike rides, and only a short 10 minute walk to Newbo. Pleasant neighborhood that I’ve enjoyed living in, however street lights are not always plentiful or working, so walks may be better taken during daylight. Really feel like this area is quaint and quiet, but just needs a little love from the city to give it a facelift. "
  • Trulia User
"I drive my own personal vehicle. It's not convenient or conducive to major travel in the town. During mid-day, the bus runs every hour. Also it's designed too serve certain neighborhoods"
  • Trulia User
"Mt mercy university has alot of events and shopping is close, hyvee, fairway, and lots of places to eat."
  • Trulia User
