"It’s just a quiet sunset residential town. People move here because of the school districts. That’s the main incentive that draws people in, since that’s where most of our property taxes go. It’s mostly family oriented. "
  • Forman.ellie
"Walkable to Metra train to city — then about a 40-minute train ride. Also close drive to highway with approx 40-60-minute drive to city. "
  • Pankapanka52
"It’s a sundown town. The schools are good. However, there’s not much diversity. If you have a car, you have everything you need and you’re close to 94 and 294, which makes it ideal to commute from the northern suburbs. It’s quiet for the most part and there’s not much going on. It’s mostly a residential town. You only live here if you have kids."
  • Tsdaniels11
"People have respect for other people, property and diversity. Every town has its clicks and issues but overall it’s a good place to live."
  • Ashley27norris
"Northbrook is great. Overall good area, close to the highway and good food places around. Dog friendly area"
  • Eddiegirl552

  • Gjhakel1
"Family friendly area with incredible parks and schools. Welcome ing community with lots of activities including Northbrook Days every August. We host a very popular summer ā€œconcerts in the parkā€ and amazing 4th of July parade with a town pancake breakfast to name a few. "

"Will need to depend on personal transportation. Can walk to some places like parks and restaurants but mainly need a vehicle."
  • Millenniuman
"Glenview and Northbrook are two of the most livable cities in the north side of Chicago! Check out the schools, Park District and neighborhoods, too! All great!"

  • Emily S.
"I love Northbrook. I would love to stay here for a lot longer but it’s just very expensive. Great place to live with so many nice people."
  • Allison B. D.
"Convenient expressway access and great commuter train service. Also convenient to many large corporate parks and campuses."
  • Allison B. D.
"There are great schools, parks, and lots of kids. Every extra-curricular activity is available. You are close to a children’s museum and only 25 miles from downtown Chicago. Take your kids downtown on the train—no parking worries."
  • Brit b.
"I see people walking their dogs everywhere. Plenty of sidewalk and walking paths. There are waste collection stations that supply bags for pick up. Dogs are always leashed, I don’t know of any off leash parks. "
  • Rwagley
"We enjoy interacting with all our neighbors. They are all ages from 85 to 5. They have different cultural backgrounds and have many interesting occupations."
  • Jclayreynolds
"It’s s nice quiet neighborhood. I wish that it was more diverse. There is a huge lack of diversity, unfortunately. "
