The staff and definitely the principal have been very inconsiderate. At the beginning of the year they requested to send in toys for my child for rainy days (I support this). I didn’t have any at home he wouldn’t miss so I decided I’d wait and buy something simple. I was sent 4 letters in the first 2 weeks about these toys and finally sent one back requesting that they be considerate as I haven’t had the money. I had full intentions of sending them but did not need to be badgered. My husband was late one day to pick up our son while I was at work. The staff was completely rude about the incident even though I had apologized and tried to explain. The principal ended up threatening to send the police to my home if it happened again. I haven’t had the money to by extra snack and so have missed sending a snack for my son this week (only 2 days) and the teacher send me a note asking that I remember to send one. Again very inconsiderate and I sent the note backing asking again to please be considerate that funds were tight this week. Definitely feel out of place with this school. And could employ more kind, considerate, and understanding staff!!

Franklin-Simpson Middle School has a welcoming and positive environment. The adults are skilled at their jobs, and they really care about the kids. My kids had a very, very positive experience at FSMS.

Two of my children look like an average student but struggle with ADHD; because they look like an average student they’re treated like they just have poor behavior and don’t care and don’t want to listen, but those are all the symptoms of ADHD. As a teacher, and a Leader and a Leader, you have to be passionate, caring and teach in a way that grabs their attention. You have to have a lot of hands on activities and give them a the same passion that you had when you decided to take on the career of being a teacher. I know people can get swallowed up in the mundane, but teaching is intimate, rewarding and amazing. You literally are shaping the next generation, and you could be shaping several generations.Times have definitely changed and they focused so much on policy and procedure that they have forgotten that they’re shaping imaginative, creative children that need them to get off their computer and dive into something interesting not a video that was premade for whatever they’re learning. We are doing our generations, an extreme disservice by keeping them in a seat on a computer and then complaining when they go home and only wanna play video games. We are also facing the worst pandemic for children in America when it comes to obesity they need to go to the gym. They need to move and if they have a special need, it needs to be addressed. I feel like if the teachers loved their job and they would show their passion. The kids would be more engaged and want to go to school. I just hope the school changes the direction they’re going in right now and shuts the computer off. Now I seem like I’m jumping in the deep end, but the truth of the matter is if we could get our eyes off the screens and look around us they’re so many kids that need our attention. There are parents out there who don’t even see their kids, so let’s look at what’s in front of us and be the change.

Love LES! really good teachers. The principal has high expectations and runs a tight ship, which I like.

The overall experience of Simpson Elementary is wonderful. Excellent elementary school with great staff and great kids.
