BAD SCHOOL. The teachers here are very strict especially the PE teachers. They make you run pacers everyday but only for 7th graders. I have experienced many kids crying and skipping because of this. The Teacher who makes us do this has been kicked out for a day or two from some inappropriate actions and it seems to some kids now that he is doing that again. I highly recommend a better school that is equal and fair to there students.

Independence High School is an amazing school with an outstanding principal who truly cares about the students. When we first met him, he said that his number one goal is to have happy students. He said that if the kids are happy, then they will want to be there and be successful. Our 2 children loved their time at Indy and they were successful. Learning was fun with teachers who really care about students. Happiness is Indy’s motto and we are forever grateful for the opportunities that were given to our children.

As a parent of a child who just completed kindergarten at this school, our experience has been overwhelmingly positive. My son was extremely nervous about starting kindergarten, but his teacher made such a positive impact that he quickly grew to love coming to school every day. By the end of the year, he was genuinely sad for school to end and is already excited for first grade.What stands out most about this school is the sense of community. The house system gives students opportunities to interact with children across grade levels, helping them build connections beyond their own grade level.Throughout the year, I was consistently impressed by how many staff members knew my son by name. Teachers and staff who were not even his classroom teachers would stop to share positive things about him at pickup. When my husband volunteered at the school, he came home amazed at how connected our son was. Not only did he seem to know everyone, but they knew him as well.I cannot speak to the administration much at this point, our limited interactions were positive. Despite the one star reviews, there is a lot of good within the school. We are grateful for the caring teachers and welcoming environment. My son had a wonderful kindergarten experience and is looking forward to another great year.
