I'm a teacher at CCMS. We care greatly about the needs of all students. This year has been one of the best years of my 24 year career in education in over ten school districts. I really hope that every year from now on is as good or even better than the one we are having now. The principals are engaged and do the best they can with the school board we have. Principals can be denied in their efforts for discipline by the school board.The counselors are top notch. I can't wait for my 7 year old to come here and meet his counselor. They will provide amazing support. Over the years they have supported ME with MY emotional needs.The teachers are awesome and ask me questions about SPED accommodations when clarfication is warranted. They actively engage all students at all times in the classroom. The community is supportive. Once every four years or so, there is a total nutball parent but every community has one.

This is my high school school alma mater and I am just sickened by the way it has been allowed to fall into disrepair. I walked through the campus a few months ago and it looked like an abandoned property being left to fall into shambles. If they don't care about the morale of the students, they cannot convince me they care about the quality of their education. I can't complain about the quality of the academics because education has nationwide is in an awful state. People no longer come out of school educated in general. But this situation with Culver High is dire. The property value here in Culver City is sky high. Why does this school look worse than any low income area school in an a 100 mile radius? It's embarrassing. This school district is a swamp that is in serious need of draining.

We could not be happier with this amazing school community. It won the designation of being a CA Distinguished School for 2025. The academic program, SIP program, and social emotional learning are very strong here. The Spanish Immersion program is amazing, with some veteran teachers who have been at the school a long time and know their stuff. Our Spanish-speaking child's language development is so much stronger since starting at this school. The community is very diverse in terms of race and class - our child has many different friends from homes and cultures both similar to hers and different. This school is also much smaller than the other language immersion school in the district because there are less classes per grade level. This means that our child is known by all adults on campus and that supervision is strong in various settings on campus. The community feels intimate and supportive. This school has also invested in additional counselors and this support is available to kids who might need it for a range of reasons. Our child saw the counselor with other students in a small group that lasted several weeks. She came home talking about the different tools they learned for emotional regulation - all in child friendly, fun terms!We highly recommend this school. If you are on the fence between this school and the other Spanish Immersion school in the district, know that the curriculum is the same at both schools and that there are many experienced teachers on La Ballona's campus, as well as a committed principal who has been part of the community for a long time. We think this school is a hidden gem!
