Culver City Middle School

This school sucks. I am a current 7th grade student. As a two year experienced prospective, this school is not good. I dislike it because the assistant principal is not kind, she likes to bully students and punish them for things that didn't even happen at school. She makes people the victim when they started things. I am not happy anymore after going to this school, I thought middle school was going to be fun but it wasn't. This school left me drained. Do not send your kids here.

Since the pandemic, this school has gone downhill. Not only did we not have a principal, multiple teachers left causing a staffing issue. Academic rigor has declined due to the school board's desire for equity by eliminating honors English. They claimed that all classes will be honors level which is not what has happened. There are some great teachers, but more than half of the teachers are not engaged. There is also no disciplining of students due to the school board's desire for social justice. They are paying a 3rd party company to sit down for problem students and talk out their behaviors. As a result, multiple fights occur daily with no consequences. Most students also avoid the bathrooms because students who skip class, hang out in the bathrooms. It's sad. This school district used to be known for being a great.

CCMS doesn’t care about the students one bit! It’s all lip service and lengthly weekly newsletters but no transparency in communication, no proper management or oversight and absolutely no plan to improve things. The principal is a bully herself. Her idea of leadership is intimidation and dismissing everyone else’s POVs and needs. What a total disaster! I can’t wait for my kid to be done with it!!

My kid has been in this school for almost a year now. I get zero updates on what's happening at the school. They don't update their website. You never know what's going on with events or times out or anything. There's fights I've witnessed dropping my kid off or picking him up. They're a mess. That would pretty much sum up this school. They are a huge mess & the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. I've never experienced such an ill-equipped, unmotivated school in my life. I wish I had enough money to send my kid to any other middle school

Absolutely wonderful diverse school. My daughter loves it and feels very independent but also secure in knowing there are great teachers that take the time out of their crazy schedules for her and go that extra mile. They offer great after school programs, STEM and AVID for college prep. She was very active last year joining volleyball as well as track in which 6th graders are automatically accepted in to. This policy is great so that they can feel happy participating instead of scared they won't make it. Thank you very much to staff, teachers and our wonderful principal of Culver City Middle School!
