Description

Driving through this brick paved historic district, winding up the hills from the river's edge in Alton Illinois, you'll find this beautiful contemporary cottage near the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River. Framed by hills of green space and surrounded by white limestone "fences" you can catch more than a peek of river views including breathtaking sunsets and sunrises. 402 Prospect Street is nestled within Alton's oldest historic neighborhood, Christian Hill. This Cape Cod styled architecturally significant home has been pleasantly updated to appeal to your minimalist taste in decor. Freshly painted neutral walls and trim are showcased by new lightened "birch" hardwoods throughout the main and lower levels. Full view and shuttered glass doors on three walls surrounding the open concept living space bring all the different shades of sunlight and twilight into this stunningly updated home. Take your pick of all the different areas to relax and unwind in this beautiful home. Stroll through the garden to the front veranda entry that leads through a casual central living space...perfect for entertaining. Turn around and you'll be escorted to the "hearth room" that is basically the heart of this thoughtfully laid out floor plan. Center stage on your main level tour you're presented next with a stunning custom kitchen and ceramic tiled walls to the ceiling. This all stainless kitchen offers many surprising comforts for your resident chef, soft close everything of course, a retracting drawer microwave, a double door bev fridge and a five burner gas range with convection that will definitely check off those big boxes on your new life wish list! The main level offers two bedrooms adjoined by another stunning display of tiled creature comforts, a Jack and Jill bath. The primary ensuite gifts you with plentiful closet space, yes there are four! The second main floor bedroom is yet another scene stealer full of choices...guest bedroom, study, library or a soothing comforting space consisting of all three. Downstairs on the lower level you'll experience a ton more choices and flex space, a family room or study, home theatre or home office, extra sleeping space, a second full bath and a ton of storage space. Hopefully at this point you're "sold" and ready to tour this amazing home. Call your favorite realtor and be one of the first to tour this move-in ready, turn-key residence! Open Saturday October 25th from 1-3pm.

  • Cadavissr31
"Plenty of kids to play with just don't leave them outside by themselves. As there is nothing for them to do which causes the to find trouble more than not."

"I live here my whole life. It very friendly . Close to Haskell park. There is a farmers market down town. Not to far from stl. "
  • Kayla
"The neighbor is quiet and your houses aren’t right on top of each other. Their is plenty of parks for kids. The school is a good school. "
  • TT
"I've lived here for 22 years, neighbors are great. However, crime is up and riffraff about so safety concerns now that never worried about before."
  • Someonewhoknows2
"This is a beautiful neighborhood with a lot of diversity. It has character and old fashion appeal. Large homes, duplex and apartments with its originality. The community has survived the worst although the love and spirit of the city is here. Perfectly located in the middle of everything, the smell of Fast Eddies Chicken or fried rice from the Hong Kong house decorates the air. I love it here, it’s safe with the beautiful mixture of people from all walks of life. Like with any city this area has its flaws, yet the flaws is what makes the beauty of it all!"
  • Patricialucas78
"easily commute I love my area of town and hope to find a house in my area. love love love it. want to grow old in my area and I raised my kids here too."
  • Claudiaharju
"My neighborhood has fair to good access to public bus transportation. We can drive very easily to Missouri ( 3 mi. to the Louis Clark Bridge.) and surrounding towns in Illinois. I live in the Middletown area in Alton and love it."
  • Laurincbuettner
"We are a tourist attraction because we are supposed to be one of the most haunted cities in America. "
  • Dhowardmbc
"Live in a unique condo in a one of a kind building. Have wonderful view of the Mississippi River. Brick streets. very friendly neighbors."
