Both our children went to the Edina public schools K-12 and both flourished as a result of the experience. Both went on to graduate from elite universities (University of Chicago and MIT) and felt that the Edina Schools did an extremely good job of preparing them to compete at a world-class level. At their core, the Edina schools benefit from a community that supports and values public education and teachers that are devoted to their craft and their students. Moreover, Edina is not the homogeneous, pervasively affluent community that some make it out to be. There are nearly 100 languages spoken in the public schools and our children were friends with other children from all sorts of diverse cultural, ethnic, and economic backgrounds -- and they were the better for it. We believe in public education in our house and, thankfully, so do many other Edina families. The schools reflect the value the community places on public education. Finally, I think the comments about "bias" in the Edina schools are outliers and often from people with an agenda who either don't have any actual experience with the Edina schools or are simply hostile to public education in the first place. We always found that the teachers simply focused on doing a good job and promoting thoughtful, civil discourse.

Wonderful school for my children. Other metro areas would die for a school that offers as much as it does

School year started off great. My daughter lost her shoe at the school I called the school as well as asked the bus driver. No one knew where her shoe was, I called again the next day to be informed that no one looked for her shoe I was then hung up on, only to be called ask by the principal who told me “ there’s no need to be frustrated, your child’s shoes are their responsibility and we can not help you” all for my child’s dad to physically go to the school and magically what would you know the school finds the shoe. Very unprofessional and rude will dismiss you without even trying to help very nasty attitudes would not want my child or any other children around such cruel “ staff “
