1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe've been at TNVA for 2 years now. Both of our kids love it! They are both is Speech class and we have heard noticeable improvements for both of them. It has been our experience that the teachers care very much for their students, academically and emotionally. TNVA has school counselors available to help the kids, too (with Covid, it's been a weird few years and many kids need some extra support). The music teacher has her PhD--not going to find that in many brick-and-mortar schools. The history is taught using a more national curriculum and comes in great hardback books with colorful pictures and informative captions. ELA is taught with a combination of novels, journal-type books, and a collected-works hardback book--all of which go along with a workbook and online independent instruction. The students have live classes for all major subjects--ELA, Math, Science, and History. They are expected to attend live classes and to do independent work. Regarding those parents complaining that they have to spend hours with their children during the school day, TNVA and K12 has made it abundantly clear that this is a school expectation and indeed the LC (learning coach) signs papers acknowledging and agreeing that they will be there to support their students for a certain percentage of the day. (Virtual school isn't babysitting--parents/LCs are a responsible part of the student's education team.) Afterall, most young children are not developmentally ready to be at a level of personal responsibility where they will work on their own independently of support. Detailed hardback Learning Guides are provided to help parents/LCs help the students with ELA and math. Teachers are also very willing to help if parents have questions. TNVA has RTI and tutoring (free) to help struggling students. Regarding end-of-the-year-testing, it is state mandatory that students attending public schools (which TNVA is) attend these tests in person. Parents have to sign a form while enrolling acknowledging this testing rule and that they will ensure transportation to one of the many testing sites. Also, TNVA does a great job of challenging intellectually gifted students with bonus classes, meetings with gifted peers, and one-on-one meetings for challenge with the intellectually gifted teacher. TNVA has clubs of varying interests for students, offers support/community for parents/LCs, and encourages students. All of the novelette to say, TNVA is a fantastic school! Our kids beg to stay!Other Review10mo ago - Check out schools near 3910 Hickory Valley Rd.
