4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughters are currently attending this school and they really like it. Their teachers have 30+ years of experience teaching. The principal and staff are all very nice. They’re really trying to improve it.Parent Review1y ago - San Diego International Studies School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur student is graduating this year and I am very appreciative for all that the school has done. Yes, the counselor was never available, the school is huge, sometimes sitting outside waiting for our student to get out, seeing the many students coming out, I realize that these teachers have a very important and surely challenging job. These young people are being prepared for their future, and many may not even really want to be in school all of the time. There are these social media challenges where some break bathrooms and do other damage to the school building, that is unfortunate and happens at schools everywhere, but I hold the parents responsible for that. Teachers especially after the pandemic have faced many challenges, making up lost time, helping those who suffered through the lockdown, I can't forget that these teachers also have a private life, also had their challenges during the lockdown. I just know our student had a good experience with online school, often leaving her room laughing about a class where they had fun doing online learning, yet the isolation weighed heavy on most of them. We send our children to school and expect so much, take it all for granted, but I thank the teachers from the bottom of my heart and hope that we as a society start to recognize how important that profession is. They are all deserving of our respect and gratitude. Thank you San Diego High IS for all you did for our student to now move on to college. She hated the AVID classes but I loved what she learned there, thank you!Parent Review2y ago - San Diego Business

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have to give this school a low rating even though my son attends. This may be his first and last year here. There is hardly any parent, principal involvement, afterschool activities (compared to the other SDHS-or even some of the other schools in the district that we visited), and it s hard to even reach anyone during the school hours. There are a few teachers who are in it to win it; but I sat in on one of my son s classes and the poor business teacher was being walked all over. How can they teach leadership skills when they can't control their class? It was hard for me to watch! This is one of the low performing schools and it shows in the leadership down to the test scores.Parent Review14y ago - San Diego Science and Technology School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son is a senior. He did the last 18 months virtually, and went back to in person class 2 weeks ago. The virtual classes were a joke, the fact that the school district doesn’t mail grades home “because of COVID-19 “ even more so. This week, my son has been home sick. I have called DAILY to report him absent, and to request assistance getting a COVID test. Every afternoon at 5:30, I receive 3 calls, one from each of the “schools” at the San Diego High campus, to report the unexcused absence. NO ONE has returned my phone calls, and the school principal has not returned my email. This has pretty much been my experience all 4 years. If you can afford private school, do not send your child to a San Diego Unified high school.Parent Review2y ago - San Diego Cooperative Charter School 2

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has changed our life. The amount of care and concern the staff has for every child is incredible. I wouldn't dream of sending my son anywhere else. My mom helps in the class at SDCCS MV and also at my nieces school which is traditional. She says that you can't compare how much more kids in the same grade are learning. Our school teaches compassion. The world is ever changing and boy has it changed lately. Ask yourself, why hasn't traditional education? I feel more than confident than ever in the safe place I have chosen for my son.Parent Review7y ago - Check out schools near 3895 Ocean View Blvd.

"I have lived her since 2009 and it is a great neighborhood. My children go to school here and the high school is in walking distance from my home. I came from Carlsbad to this area it’s a bit different but I love it here wouldn’t make my home anywhere else. I love this area if you mind your business people don’t bother you. Stores are close by."

"There is not much around here to say it is a special neighborhood. There is a church around the cornervthat gives donations to whomever goes by, that's a nice getsure. "

"Honestly don’t get me wrong this neighborhood is safe dispite the rough appeal. I actually heard that this area was uninhabitable 10-20 years ago.. but it’s improved since. The fact that this is one of the only place where you can afford a home under 350k is reason enough to stay"

"Not a safe neighborhood to raise a family, shootings gang activity and drugs on every turn. Really expensive to live around here and not worth it at all."

"I currently live in this area, it is not a safe area... Just bought a house in chula vista.. less crime and safer for my children and family.. "

"I've lived here 12 years. It's nice because it is gated. The neighborhood is mixed races. There is everything you need from grocery stores to Home Depot within walking distance. This area has been given a bad rep. from years ago. As long as you are not involved with gangs you will never be bothered. I'm a single white woman and have never been hassled or robbed. We have less crime in here than places like La Jolla. I give the school district a 5 star, because SD Unified allows you to put your child in any school in the district, you aren't restricted to the one nearest you. You just apply to a couple schools early, in the spring is a good time. The homeowner's association is good (I'm on the board). We need some good people to move in- we don't tolerate rule-breakers and law-breakers. "
