7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur son loves WBHS. The Marching Band program is well supported. Teachers are supportive when you reach out to communicate, otherwise, students and parents should watch grades on Blackboard and Parent Vue. Counselors are very responsive. I don’t understand some of these ratings; the school we moved from in OK was rated 9, but was horrible for class size (typically 32), test scores, and teacher engagement (see class size). We would give WBHS a 9 and OK public schools about 3.Parent Review1y ago - William Byrd Middle School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am very disappointed in this school and the favoritism that is shown towards the Caucasian children compared to the African American children. My granddaughter has repeatedly been bullied and called some horrible names by multiple students and all the discipline the Caucasian children have received is a "Racial Slur Letter," according to the principal. So my granddaughter can be called a N----- and it is treated like just some name calling. This is unacceptable !!!!In an African American's world “n-----” is a threat. Evidently this is not taught in this school. To have this kind of behavior is Okay with this school as long as you are Caucasian. You can call another person any kind of ugly name you want and all you will get is a letter or a slap on the hand. Byrd has such high standards yet so selective to whom those standards apply to. So if you condone this behavior by all means put your child in this Racist school, but if your child is different and you love them and do not want them to be tortured on a daily bases please put them in another school. "Avoid Garden City. I have lived in Roanoke all my life but will never live in GC again. Some roads are okay, but most of them are “drug roads,” you will hate your neighbors, and you will live around unleashed dogs who bark 24/7. Good luck"

"Would not recommend living here… Rental group is amazing but we had people trying to get into the house and lure us out on numerous occasions between midnight and 5am. We decided to move since we were expecting a child. If you don’t have kids I’d say a great place!"

"We need sidewalks in Roanoke county!! Cave spring for sure! Please give us somewhere to walk I have walked on the side of the road for years and had to walk in thorns I think it would help everyone and businesses could get more business with the ability for more people to access them. If people do not have cars sidewalks would be greatly appreciated."
