I am a parent of 3 kids who are in various stages of school. My oldest went through grades 4-8 at Weimar Hills, and was very well prepared for advanced math and AP/honors courses at Colfax High School.My 2nd child is currently attending Weimar Hills and is active in clubs, sports, social activities, and thrives academically. The coursework can be challenging and sets kids up for success as they continueon with high school and college. The zero tolerance for bullying, drugs and alcohol is very apparent and allows kids to focus on the positives and enjoyment of what can be a difficult age. Having been involved withWeimar Hills for seven years now, I look forward to my 3rd child reaping the benefits and education Weimar Hills offers.

There are so many wonderful opportunities to connect with your child via nature in Meadow Vista, CA. Nature is so often used as a teaching tool at Sierra Hills Elementary School. This summer the clear skies offered a spectacular view of the meteorite showers and opportunities to continue to learn about the world around us. I cherish a night of sharing the splendor of the night skies with my granddaughter who will continue her education at Sierra Hills.

The teachers are dedicated, motivated, and creative with the very few resources they are given. However, their new grading system is lacking and teaches to the lowest common denominator of student. Low performing students skate by without receiving the instruction needed to build stamina and interest in learning. Higher achieving students are not challenged as the school program lacks rigor (even with the promise of an IB program). There is little to no funding for sports and extracurricular activities, resulting in no bussing for most sports teams putting the burden on families to sort out the transportation for their student(s). This lack causes unnecessary burden and economic discrimination among students and families. The administration team and the teaching staff don’t seem to communicate. Every school-wide event —like back to school night, future falcon night, etc. —are never communicated clearly to the parent body. Times, locations, and event programming are never accurate based on published information. Just because Colfax High is a small school located in a small mountain town, does not mean its students don’t deserve basic services like bussing.
