Sunrise Middle is easily one of the WORST SCHOOLS in Broward county. This perspective is coming from someone who’s actually had experience with multiple middle schools in Broward county. This school is a complete circus most times from the administration in the front that may or may not even greet you depending on the day, the principals that have tunnel vision, the teachers that sit back and watch the students try to kill each other with no adult intervention and refuse to show up for conferences when an involved parent asks for academic transparency. Avoid this school like the plague! I’ve seen multiple honor roll students go to this school and literally become unrecognizable F honor roll students by the end of the year due to the violent, toxic environment that’s been created at Sunrise Middle by the unruly students, teachers and administration. Don’t Do it to yourself or your child they deserve better!

I'm a parent of a Walker Wildcat, and I volunteer in the school's Media Center, and we love this school. The teachers and staff are involved, and the school is one of First Lady Michelle Obama's Turnaround Arts Schools. The Magnet program offers a wonderful, FREE (because it's public school) performing arts program that my child looks forward to every day. The school is in a poor area, so we don't get much in the way of property taxes, but everyone is dedicated and working toward improvement. Instead of looking at a "1" rating and looking elsewhere, I'd encourage parents to come be part of the solution and help make Walker the best school in Broward County. For what it's worth, we researched other schools nearby, too. One in particular, a top-performing school in the area, also has a lot of rich, privileged students, and boy, the ones in my kid's after school martial arts class sure were entitled little people. Not exactly the peer group we were looking for, despite its high Great Schools rating.

They do not want to do their job when concerning a parent needing info or forms. The amount of misinformation, voice messages, and phone tag that occurred in three day period is outrageous and unprofessional. I felt that I was discriminated since I was using an interpreter for the calls and they didn’t want to deal with it.
