This Henry Hester designed landmark is truly one of the “crown jewels” of mid-century modern architecture. Meticulously and thoughtfully reimagined, this one level corner unit residence is perfectly positioned directly across from world famous Balboa Park. A spacious floor-plan offers privacy and ease with dual suites and an optional third suite. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide the perfect invitation to reconnect with nature and the best of "America’s Finest City". Inspired timeless interior design with fine finishes which include, marble, natural quartz, tropical white stone, barrel wood mosaic tile, Italian lighting, custom built-ins. Amenities include pool, gym, storage, and premium parking. Historical designation and Mills Act status offering significant property tax savings!History: In the late 1950’s, Colonel Irving Salomon commissioned architect, Henry Hester to design a luxury apartment building with 30 spacious units and sprawling penthouse at what is now known as the “Salomon Building” or often referred to as the “3200 Building”. The one to three bedroom units were showcased in a 1960 edition of San Diego Magazine. Colonel Salomon selected Mr. Hester over John Lloyd Wright, the son of legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright, as Hester’s vision was to create an airy and free-flowing environment to favor the beautiful views of historic Balboa Park and westerly to take advantage of the colorfully amazing San Diego sunsets. When the development was first opened it was marketed as “San Diego’s Most Distinguished Place to Live”. Decades later, the “Colonel Irving Salomon / Henry Hester Apartments” were converted to condominiums and noted by many as one of the “crown jewels” of mid-century architecture in San Diego. A true architectural and historical landmark perfectly positioned across from the world famous Balboa Park with easy of access to the San Diego Zoo, museums, restaurants, and so much more!

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhat a hidden gem of a school. You have seasoned principal, teachers and staff that work so well as a team. You can tell they all really like each other. We were extremely lucky to snag a UTK spot here for my 4 year old a year before UTK gets rolled out to the rest of the District. With a 24 to 2 class ratio and sometimes has even a third teacher with science class once a week. By the end of the year my 4 year old was reading Beginning Bob Books, writing her name and other small words and starting basic math. She truly got a leg up on her academics and social skills going to this school. But most importantly she developed a love of learning and a love for school.Parent Review1y ago - Roosevelt International Middle School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy kids both attend Roosevelt Middle School. It is a great school with teachers who care about the students. The principal is fantastic and has great communication with families. He is very dedicated to his students and attends so many school events, even on weekends. The families are engaged and volunteer their time for the students and the school.Other Review10mo ago - San Diego International Studies School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur student is graduating this year and I am very appreciative for all that the school has done. Yes, the counselor was never available, the school is huge, sometimes sitting outside waiting for our student to get out, seeing the many students coming out, I realize that these teachers have a very important and surely challenging job. These young people are being prepared for their future, and many may not even really want to be in school all of the time. There are these social media challenges where some break bathrooms and do other damage to the school building, that is unfortunate and happens at schools everywhere, but I hold the parents responsible for that. Teachers especially after the pandemic have faced many challenges, making up lost time, helping those who suffered through the lockdown, I can't forget that these teachers also have a private life, also had their challenges during the lockdown. I just know our student had a good experience with online school, often leaving her room laughing about a class where they had fun doing online learning, yet the isolation weighed heavy on most of them. We send our children to school and expect so much, take it all for granted, but I thank the teachers from the bottom of my heart and hope that we as a society start to recognize how important that profession is. They are all deserving of our respect and gratitude. Thank you San Diego High IS for all you did for our student to now move on to college. She hated the AVID classes but I loved what she learned there, thank you!Parent Review2y ago - San Diego Business

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have to give this school a low rating even though my son attends. This may be his first and last year here. There is hardly any parent, principal involvement, afterschool activities (compared to the other SDHS-or even some of the other schools in the district that we visited), and it s hard to even reach anyone during the school hours. There are a few teachers who are in it to win it; but I sat in on one of my son s classes and the poor business teacher was being walked all over. How can they teach leadership skills when they can't control their class? It was hard for me to watch! This is one of the low performing schools and it shows in the leadership down to the test scores.Parent Review14y ago - San Diego Science and Technology School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son is a senior. He did the last 18 months virtually, and went back to in person class 2 weeks ago. The virtual classes were a joke, the fact that the school district doesn’t mail grades home “because of COVID-19 “ even more so. This week, my son has been home sick. I have called DAILY to report him absent, and to request assistance getting a COVID test. Every afternoon at 5:30, I receive 3 calls, one from each of the “schools” at the San Diego High campus, to report the unexcused absence. NO ONE has returned my phone calls, and the school principal has not returned my email. This has pretty much been my experience all 4 years. If you can afford private school, do not send your child to a San Diego Unified high school.Parent Review2y ago - Check out schools near 3200 6th Ave #303-3C.
