Description

This gorgeous 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom Eckington rowhome is a true DC gem! Upon entering the home, you'll find the light-filled living and dining areas featuring lovely pine hardwood floors that extend throughout. Off to the side is the galley style kitchen, which includes updated appliances, marble countertops, subway tile, and plenty of storage with built-in shelving and ample cabinet space. At the rear of the home is a wood-paneled den which is truly unique and adds abundant charm to the first floor, and leads out to a cute backyard and an off-street parking space.

The bedrooms and bathrooms are on the upper level of the house and have wonderful windows for abundant light in the bedrooms. The largest can fit a queen-sized bed and continues to a den with great closet space and plenty of room for a home office or nursery. The second bedroom is also sizable with large windows. The bathroom is charming with beautiful tiling and a claw foot tub. There is an unfinished basement with a washer/dryer and plenty of extra storage space.

Located just a few blocks from both the Brookland and Rhode Island Ave Metro stops, and along the G8 and D8 bus lines right at your doorstep, commuting downtown from this home is a breeze. Rhode Island Row is a short walk away including a Giant and Home Depot. Head up to Monroe Street Market for dining options like Brookland Pint, Busboys & Poets and more. There are art shops along the Arts Walk and a Farmer's Market every Saturday. Other favorite local spots like Right Proper Brewing and Dew Drop Inn are nearby as well. You can also easily pop down Rhode Island to Bloomingdale and Shaw or up to Brookland, Mount Rainer, and Hyattsville. This neighborhood is such an exciting place to be!

"I'm trying hard to leave my neighborhood. The violence has already started. I've been living around there for 16yrs"
  • dkdauphinais
"With Rhode Island Ave NE to the south and Catholic University to the north, Edgewood is a quiet family-oriented neighborhood of row houses and friendly neighbors. I've lived here for 9 years and have seen the natural changes of older, long-time residents giving way to a new generation of home owners. We still have a good mix of older folks with young families, single professionals and students. There's a lot of development happening around the Rhode Island Ave. Metro Station, Home Depot and Giant. Chancellor's Row just off 4th Street NE has new townhouses. There are still some rough edges, but the neighborhood is changing every day!"
  • wtersch
"I've lived in Edgewood for a year and half and am glad I moved to the neighborhood. Folks take pride in the community and are friendly and welcoming. There is a very active Edgewood listserv (Yahoo group), plus an Edgewood Civic Association. The first Saturday of each month, I help with a neighborhood cleanup. Many other neighbors come out and help remove litter and keep the area looking nice, then we enjoy a friendly and free hot dog lunch. Proximity to the new Metropolitan Branch Trail for biking and running is a big plus; the trail leads to the Capitol, which is only 2.5 miles south of Edgewood. In terms of transport, the Rhode Island Station development at the Metro station is adding new businesses and residents to this Metro-friendly area, plus there are frequent buses along Rhode Island Avenue. I like living in Edgewood -- close to everything, yet, for now, relatively affordable -- and am definitely sticking around."
