2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAlbert Hill has been a GREAT home for my two children (now in 8th and 10th grades). The staff is mostly dedicated and caring, and Ms. Ivy has created a culture of care, success and opportunity. I have found her to be enormously responsive to parent input and ideas, and the admin staff is very professional, prompt and caring. Albert Hill is a unique place where the student body is very diverse racially and economically. The team is devoted to giving each student and their families opportunity to excel.Parent Review2mo ago - Open High School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI attended OHS from 1998-2002. As an alum of Open High School, I can proudly say that I grew into a lifelong learner and thinker because of the independence and quality of education provided by the teachers and staff of Open High. The small knit community and class sizes allow teachers and students to get consistent feedback as well as growth in different subject areas and personal matters. Teachers act more as mentors as they guide students through the knowledge. Self study and curiosity are encouraged and welcomed. I do not recall an emphasis on SOLs but I recall passing them all every year. Students who graduate from Open High School tend to be great additions to society. Most attend and graduate from a university with advanced degrees. The class of 2002 alumni mostly have Masters degrees and Doctoral degrees in their perspective fields. Most of us are still friends 18+ years later.Open High School is a TOP school within Richmond Public Schools.Other Review3y ago - George W. Carver Elementary School

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI went to this school when I was younger i graduation from there. I have 3 kids and my oldest daughter graduated from Carver before we moved over Southside. The staff at Carver some of which I was attended is still there 20 some years later is excellent and supported they are there for you when you need them. They treat your child like family they make sure they get it done and to suceed in life. I love my Carver Peanut Family this school is awesome.Parent Review12y ago - Thomas Jefferson High School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe community here is incredible. TJ is an amazing school. There are problems to be addressed, sure, but if a student needs something, they will get it. If a parent needs something, they will get it. Scores do not communicate the entire story of a school and should be reviewed VERY carefully.Teacher Review3y ago - Richmond Community High School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs parents, this is the best decision that we could have made. We came from a private school in the first 9 years to move into the public school system where in Richmond is not highly regarded. But this school is the crown jewel of RPS. The quality of the teachers, counselors, students and administrators has been nothing less than spectacular. The challenge given by the teachers and administrators to the students could be overwhelming at first, but the way that the challenge is nurtured leads to a complete graduate that is ready for college. Students that come back to RCHS after a year or two of college credit the years spent here as the building blocks of seamless transmission to higher education. It is really a hidden gem in RPS.Parent Review6y ago - Franklin Military Academy

"People are walking their dogs all the time. Neighbor has stations for poop bags and trash cans all over. There’s some buildings that have dog parks in them "

"I’ve lived in Scott’s Addition for three years. It’s grown a lot over that time. It’s gotten noisier and rowdier, especially in the past year. Random strangers hang out, etc. on my porch. People scratch and ding my car frequently. Parking is difficult. I also work in the neighborhood but am looking forward to no longer living here. "

"There are many young adults, ages in the 20s to 30s range, that live here. It is rare to see kids living in this area. The breweries and restaurants attract a lot of people and traffic on the evenings and weekends, street parking can be difficult at those times. Construction is always happening. There are many 18 wheeler trucks driving around from the businesses around here."

"I own a house in Scotts Addition and commute downtown for work. One of the greatest aspects of the neighborhood is its location. My commute to and from work is 10 minutes by car. The neighborhood itself is experiencing a rapid revitalization. Historically a blue collar community with trades people, warehouses, and auto and construction shops, local developers are rapidly purchasing plots of land and redeveloping the buildings into high end lofts, breweries, restaurants, work spaces, and retail shops. The neighborhood has a fairly low crime rate, and a very low serious crime rate. The neighborhood is approximately a 15 minute walk to Carytown, and is in close proximity to museums and public transportation. I would highly recommend this neighborhood to investors."

"It’s a very eclectic neighborhood that offers a lot of things to do and restaurants to visit. This area is in a stage of resurgence"

"Lots of alcohol related activities like breweries and distilleries that always have good events going on. The downside to living here is that there is absolutely no green space like a park or anything in easy walking distance. Also there are a lot of uneven or non existent sidewalks but it is nice and quiet at night and during the week."
