Read what parents are saying about Albert Hill Middle SchoolAlbert Hill has been a GREAT home for my two children (now in 8th and 10th grades). The staff is mostly dedicated and caring, and Ms. Ivy has created a culture of care, success and opportunity. I have found her to be enormously responsive to parent input and ideas, and the admin staff is very professional, prompt and caring. Albert Hill is a unique place where the student body is very diverse racially and economically. The team is devoted to giving each student and their families opportunity to excel.
Posted by a parent on 2/27/2024I've sent two boys through Hill and both have had wonderful experience. Ms. Ivy is AMAZING in every way and the teachers and staff are incredible. There are kids and staff representing many different races, ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds, which was really important to us in choosing a school for our kids. We wouldn't change anything about their experience!
Posted by a parent on 11/15/2023We have two children at Hill and are extremely happy. The teachers are enthusiastic and good at their jobs. The administration is good with communication. There are a variety of after school activities. My one complaint is an RPS issue, not a Hill issue . . . because of having essentially "double" English and math (and I do understand the reasoning behind this, especially after COVID learning loss), there are few slots available in their schedules for students to take electives. And there are so many great ones to take that this is a disappointment.
Posted by a parent on 9/14/2023I have two children at Albert Hill. The administration is great, the teachers are amazing, the PTA is very active and facilitates a lot of extracurricular activity, and both of my children are very happy and thriving there. I can't recommend it enough.

Glad to see more and more kids from my daughter’s elementary school (Mary Munford) continuing on to Hill. She is challenged and learning a ton this year, and loves it.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe were hesitant about Cary, but now we couldn't be happier. Our son began kindergarten there in August 2022. We adore his teacher, the principal is very involved, and it has the welcoming feel of a small, neighborhood school. We love their values; Cary won a presigious "Green Ribbon" award from the Department of Education for it's commitment to environmentalism and encouraging the children to learn outdoors; especially for a public school, they really try to keep the kids outdoors and moving around as much as possible. My son has gardening class at the raised beds near his playground, and is learning about soil and how to make things grow. I also LOVE their commitment to social/emotional learning. Every other week he has "guidance" class with the school counselor where they learn about being a good friend, setting boundaries, how to cope with big feelings, etc. The school has some problems just like any city school, but we've been pleasantly surprised by so much and we are very happy that he's there.Parent Review1y ago - Mary Munford Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is most remarkable! My child attended this school many years ago and later St Gertrude's! She received a most incredible education at St Benedict's and later at St Grutrude's! In my observation the best any child could obtain from anywhere! It is with great sorrow that I see that both senior high schools are no longer operated in the same neighborhoods. Tragic, in my humble opinion as many of the current St Benedict's school children will not be able to afford the luxury of traveling all the way out to Goochland to attend St Gertrude's or St Benedictine's high schools! What can the public do to encourage and financially enable the Catholic Church to resume high school educations in the museum area for the poorer children of Richmond?
