N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhat a great school! The teachers are very knowledgable and caring. My son has always felt safe and cared about while being pushed academically. They have great supports for students who are struggling. Administration is understanding and communicates with families weekly about what is going on in the school. Between staff and the PTO, they really try to get families involved.Parent Review3mo ago - Litchfield High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe had to put our kids in private school. Kids run the school and administrators and teachers are afraid to discipline kids. There is nothing for kids to do in this town so kids just drink and get high. Plenty of kids come to school high. Teachers give everyone good grades. Students and teachers are racist and homophobic. If your kids go here, they will be severely bullied. If you're not white, this is NOT the place for you. It's a great place to visit, but keep on moving b/c these hills have eyes and it can get scary out here for the wrong people.Parent Review1y ago - Litchfield Intermediate School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is the worst of the worst. In my opinion, children could do so much better than this horrible place. They employ inexperienced special ed teachers who do not know what they're doing. My child has had such a bad experience. You might do ok if you consider your child main stream. As far as special ed goes- it's more like a zoo. My child has learning delays and is significantly behind academically. My child has been bullied. He has had to suffer with health issues caused by stress from School. He has accumulated so much in medical bills. Does this sound like the type of school you would want to send your kid to? A child who asks to go to the nurse and is denied. A school that holds ppt meetings without parent or parent consent to have one without mom present. Discouraging me from bringing an advocate. Julie Haggard is the special Ed coordinator and she is the worst of the worst. I moved to a new school district. They refused to let my child finish the last 3 weeks of school. They also refused to speak to the new school or release paperwork. I have put a complaint in to the board of ed on multiple issues with this school. I'm not the type to complain so for me to write this, things have to be pretty bad. The school needs to be held accountable.Parent Review6y ago - Litchfield Middle School

What Locals Say about Litchfield

"Very animal friendly as it is a rural community. Plenty of dog owners throughout the borough. Given the White Memorial Nature Preserve and ample public land, great place to be a dog"

"Lots of people have dogs and all the various trails, green spaces, parks and public areas welcome them. Sadly, because a lot of streets are not high traffic, people allow their dogs to poop and don’t pick up (or they think it’s ok because they are walking in front of a farm). There are a couple of funky pet supply stores and almost every store has a dish of water outside. All the FedEx, UPS and USPS carriers have treats and know the dogs. Being an agricultural area, there is an abundance of vets!"

"It’s a great place to live and I definitely highly recommend it for anyone. But a place, grow old in it, do it here. But only if you have the money to afford it because it’s expensive. But lots of history here so do it"

"It’s woodsy and quiet. Nobody bother anyone and it’s primarily the safest place you could live. Highly recommend if you can afford it"

"Lots of character—New England charm. A popular spot for tourists and retirees from NYC. Lots of great restaurants and cafes, low key bars. Shopping but it mostly comes at a premium. A great sense of community especially surrounding holidays and school events."
