3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDo not fear the low ratings! Many students are coming from disadvantaged backgrounds, non-English speaking households, special needs, etc. and the ratings reflect this reality versus the quality of education being provided. If you advocate for your child’s needs and say they need access to more challenging content for instance, the teachers, principal, and administration will work with you to meet your student’s needs. You might have to get creative, but it is possible to carve out a unique plan for your child in a culturally rich and diverse setting. Understanding how to engage with people from diverse backgrounds in today’s world is an invaluable skill and you will get this at Krieger. There is no need to pay private school tuition where the school must create a “multi-cultural club”, when the culture is accessible right in your own community. If your child is high achieving and you are an engaged parent, join us at Krieger and contribute your time and knowledge to be the change you wish to see in the world. Krieger is a fantastic community school.Parent Review1y ago - Poughkeepsie Middle School

" I’ve lived here for 10 years and it has been a very safe and enjoyable neighborhood to live in. The schools are very good both public and parochial. There is great access to shopping, groceries and restaurants. There are lots of parks, museums and rail trails in the area. The city also has the walkway over the Hudson which is a great attraction. Access to NYVc is easy and 1:30 minutes on the train with a ride along the Hudson River. Overall the area is safe. The four seasons give a great opportunity to enjoy the holidays. "

"There are community events. However, ALL are not always welcome. For the community to be so diverse, there's a lot of prejudice and judgement.
