Neighborhood Description

Quiet in the winter, more lively in the summer. Plenty of beaches to chose from, lifeguards on every other beach. Seperate beaches for just surfing and kayak launching. 4-wheel drive vehicles allowed on the north and south end of the island in the summer with a permit and the entire beach in the off season with a permit. The north end has 3 miles of state owned beach which has no development and never will. The beach is home to the endangered Piping Plovers, wild fox, rabbits, sanderlings, egrets and an occasional seal that comes to shore to rest.
Besides being a beautiful island we are a year round community with a major shopping center, restaurants, doctors, dentists, fitness centers, banks, churches, drug stores, etc. 5 minutes North of Atlantic City casinos and entertainment, yet close enough to come back to a quiet island to relax. Totally surrounded by water, the bay, Atlantic Ocean and the St. Georges thorofare Lagoon, lots of water activities to enjoy and lots of water views to see. Dolphin watching is unavoidable!!
