Being a current student, this school is exactly great. The teachers help with your grades and the students are well behaved and smart.

Some teacher don’t have respect when u need help the say they are gonna help you but they don’t be helping

CHS is a great school. I have a totally different background and was worried about bullies but I have been received with love and kindness. Excellence is celebrated regardless of where you come from. Teachers interact with us like their own children. I am a 9th grader and can say I absolutely enjoy school. My teachers are already discussing college courses with me.Future Aeronautical Engineer,Oluwadamilare.

I can say that at East Side I had experiences and opportunities that was only possible because of east Side like ECC program, where I graduated from High School with my Associates degree already

I just was awarded section 8. I was so excited. I wanted to move out of Newark. Then I received a letter from Malcolm Shabazz stating that my son was one of 6 students in Newark district schools that was awarded a scholarship to Lincoln Tech. All expenses paid. Malcolm Shabazz also informed us that not only will he be graduating next year with honors from there but also Lincoln Tech. They informed us upon graduating in would receive an additional scholarship for 85,000, to further his education. My son was and is so excited. So as for me moving out of Newark, not happening now. My son's dreams have to come first. Thank you Malcolm Shabazz for caring so much about my child and his future!

what can we do to make our schools better? It's up to us to make a difference with our schools and city. Stop complaining about what's so bad about it and make a change.

The education system in the building is very strong and positive. The staff and students welcome you with open arms and show u the right way to be in the building. West side is full of positive attitudes and positive people.

I am writing to share my concerns regarding my son's experiences at First Avenue School My son was involved in an altercation where he was initially provoked by another student. When he defended himself, it felt as though the staff did not fairly consider his side of the story, prioritizing the other child's account instead.My son was injured during this incident when he was stabbed with a pencil. When he requested to see the nurse, he was unfortunately denied assistance by a teacher. This lack of support is concerning and raises questions about student safety.I sensed a troubling atmosphere of bias in how the situation was handled, particularly regarding the treatment of my son compared to the other student involved. It is disheartening to feel that my son's experiences were not taken seriously.The response from the principal and staff has been disappointing, and I believe there is a need for improvement in how they support and address student concerns.I hope that by sharing these experiences, First Avenue School can reflect on these issues and work towards creating a more equitable and supportive environment for all students.Thank you for your attention to these matters.
