Overall amazing school! Both my kids went here since kindergarten. One negative thing I’d wish they would Work on is engaging more with the shy and quiet kids more. Maybe get a buddy system together. I know I’m not the only parent who feels this way. Both of my daughters dealt with social anxiety and just overall awkwardness. My youngest one more so than my oldest. I drop my youngest off and I watch the teachers that stand outside, and they hardly even look at her. A simple hi or complement to her would make all the difference in the world to her. When you see a child having difficulties making friends you would think that these teachers would make more of an effort into helping them. Breaks my heart. But it’s a great school overall. Like I said the only negative I would have to say is they need to work on helping the shy and quiet kids get out of their shell.

Dixie Heights is a great school for me, not only that the staff and teachers are nice me. even my math and english teachers and my peer tutors from the IEP give me more help than any other math and english teacher would and the students here are also much nicer to me and i like to engage my learning with them sometimes for peer or group work. the staff and the principal are also great and they care about not only about our education, but also students as well. so this school deserves a trophy and it is my family. so make it a great day or not Dixie that choice is yours.

There is so much wrong with this school. Let’s start off with the staff, including bus drivers and special needs teachers. Normal teachers don’t even try to prevent bullying, and when they do, they just say something like,”stop and do your work!” like that’s gonna do anything. Special Ed teachers also will treat special kids like babies and when they misbehave, the kids will get their things taken away as a threat. Weird, right? Bus drivers, including mine, stay silent until it affects a large majority of the bus and don’t even care when a fight between 1-3 people is happening. Also, the principals are fine except a certain one that sounds like she never wants to be at her job and gives attitude to everybody with is weird considering she willingly got into this job I assume. Now let’s talk about how the school does not care about safety at all. If you go here or near, you know how cold it’s been. It was 3 degrees this morning. I didn’t have to yesterday and today because I was kept home, but my mom got a call from the lady at the office I was talking about earlier saying that we aren’t cancelling school anymore. My mom knew that, we all knew that, but it’s way too cold to be out there considering I go on the bus and some of the windows cant even shut all the way, letting all the cold air in. This school really cares about attendance way more than safety and this has been made clear by teachers themselves. Also, the bullying in this school? Has nobody been taught how to be nice or have common sense? Apparently not from what I’ve seen. I’m just saying, this is the worst school I have ever went to and has 100% made my suicidal thoughts worse which a lot of kids can relate to. Also, side note, being with the kind of students here in gym when you’re naturally really bad at sports or are not able to be active is extremely embarrassing and I almost killed myself because of it! Hate it here! Bye everyone!
