Had 2 kids graduate from Traip and go on to top tier colleges. Traip is small and the teachers and staff know all the kids and families. We had been in large school districts prior that might have had better "amenities" , but my kids THRIVED when we moved to Kittery.

I am a former student of MHT, currently a sophomore at Portsmouth High School, and I can only say good things about this school. I experienced the education of a lifetime here, and I'm convinced there is no other school in the world that could have provided me with an experience even close to MHT. My teachers all provided such a perfect balance of work and play, because the school always knew how to nurture not only a good work ethic, but a good personality too. I came out of the school knowing how to truly think, and make deep emotional connections with people. Despite the last parent's snarky review, the long-standing principal is one of the best you will ever find. Please try to name just one other school where you are greeted at the door by your principal's cheerful face, and also get to learn firsthand from her in the classroom. She is a truly special woman that provided far more than just a good education. MHT prepares you for life as a whole, not just a nice report card on your fridge. Well it also does that, because I am a high honors student at PHS with grades I am proud of, thanks to MHT. All in all, it may have its quirks, but that's what makes it the gem it is. :)

I am an 8th-grade student, and I love this school just about as much as you can love school. Almost all the teachers I know are so kind and encouraging to get your work done. I've seen students have disagreements and fight, but that's not to say it was the teachers'/adults' fault or that the school is bad. If people are going to write reviews saying it is "unprofessional" then they can provide evidence of that case because I see none. Both principals are so kind and generous, and always think through what's best for everyone. I have really enjoyed going to this school for almost 3 years, as I have made friends, found favorite teachers, and have taken classes that teach me, which I want to take. If a student ends up with a schedule they don't like, guidance counselors will offer their best solution to fix the issue. There are always people there for kids to talk to whether it's a school therapist or a trusted teacher. I will never forget Portsmouth Middle school, as I hope every kid going through their experiences joy and finds the correct path for them to follow. - March 16, 2022
