8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is our second year here, and I have no doubt my child is receiving a good education. The teachers, thus far, have been excellent. I'll admit, I was a bit turned off by the fact that I was unable to reach my child's teacher directly last year and had to go through the classroom mom to communicate with her.The school is not very diverse, and the parents appear to be quite cliquey. My daughter didn't make tons of friends her first year, but the few she did make seem very solid. I also had a couple of run-ins with one particular office staff member whom I believe to be the Office Supervisor. I have been treated very curtly by her on several occasions, and I have also witnessed her treating other women of color in this manner. Coincidence—or does she address the white moms in the same way?I brought this to the attention of the principal, who said she would address it. I am concerned that there could be some cronyism at play, but time will tell.Parent Review10mo ago18 Reviews - Rogers Middle School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI feel compelled to write a review in the hopes that I can save another family from experiencing the hell that is Rogers Middle School. Hate speech, threats of violence and actual physical violence run rampant in this school. Teachers turn a blind eye and in some cases are a bully themselves. The principal acts like a child and is not respected as an authority figure by the students. They think the best way to deal with violent students is to talk it out. The students know they can get away with things and there is no discipline. I feel as though it’s generous to rate this school a one because my child will have to deal with a lifetime of trauma and that deserves a negative number in my opinion.Parent Review3mo ago18 Reviews - Wilson High School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTaught here for a number of years. Moved my own kids to Orange County because I didn't want them attending here. The administration was just horrible. The whole district is more worried about their reputation, looking good and garnering awards from no name organizations. The administration will post rules and policies but are no where to be found enforcing them. Long Beach does not seem to get rid of bad principals either. Instead they just shuffle them around to other sites. A colleague of mine called this the "dance of the lemons."Teacher Review1y ago18 Reviews - Check out schools near 29 54th Pl.

"it's pretty easy to get out of the area until about 9am. Bayshore is shutdown during the summer months which creates a lot of traffic."

"Neighborhood concerts and very friendly neighbors that say hello when you walk by them. Everyone has a pup and a bike. You will never feel lonely or bored in the shore. Dog beach is down the street and the homes have beautiful yards and patios to admire during walks. "

"Rosies dog beach is nearby and always full of dogs off leash, playing around, and having a dandy time. Most restaurants that have a patio, will allow dogs as well. It’s lovely."

"Dog beach in the area. A lot of people walking their dogs. However, neighbors with dogs, their dogs bark often. Its annoying especially being a person that works nights."

"Hard to get out of the neighborhood. One way streets, hardly used bike lanes, annoying roundabouts, not close to any freeway, that adds 15+ mins to your commute. I’m moving "

"Dogs are always welcomed however there are dog owners who are not responsible and leave poop on lawns and sidewalks. They should pick up after their dogs."

"Dogs are a common staple here since they are so welcome and loved in this neighborhood; however, owners won’t mind standing on your lawn which their dogs use the restroom on and won’t pick it up. Even if you have a sign or even a small fence, they will welcome themselves in and leave the mess! I would say 80% of people who live here have dogs, but the 20% that don’t, hate the ones that do and will make sure you know it. "

"I have lived in Belmont Shores for a year now and absolutely love it. Every single home is taken care of, not one eye sore. Its the kind of place where a piece of llitter on the sidewalk would find its way into my hand because it looked so out of place. Not a snobby place by all means however. The cost of living is affordable for this beachfront community with its many amenitiies. The dog beach that spans the length of the enclave, the trendy and hip shops, bars, and ethnic restaurants on 2nd Street. set the living platform for a fairly diverse, friendly while not nosey group of singles, couples, retirees and some young families to prosper from within. Everyone is always seemingly happy and the permeating lovely fresh sea breaze and pretty environment is why. I am convinced."
