About this House

Nestled across the street from DC’s up-and-coming Reservoir District is this handsome 3BD/2BA Stronghold rowhome with original finishes and modern touches throughout. When you’re done marveling at the wood shutters, trim, and transom windows, imagine everyday life relaxing in the light-filled living room or hosting dinner parties in a kitchen updated with an island and lots of cabinet space. The back sunroom is perfect for all-weather enjoyment, with large windows overlooking a private backyard (and convenient off-street parking). Follow the gorgeous wood staircase to the upper level, where you’ll find a primary bedroom drenched in sunlight thanks to skylights and high ceilings. (It also includes your own en-suite bathroom.) Two additional bedrooms each have separate access to a second sunroom that could easily double as a playroom or home office. The basement is design-ready and includes a separate backyard entrance. Live within walking distance of all the retail and green spaces planned for the redeveloped McMillan Reservoir site, including the new Reservoir Park Recreation Center. All this on a low-traffic street. •

  • dkdauphinais
"With Rhode Island Ave NE to the south and Catholic University to the north, Edgewood is a quiet family-oriented neighborhood of row houses and friendly neighbors. I've lived here for 9 years and have seen the natural changes of older, long-time residents giving way to a new generation of home owners. We still have a good mix of older folks with young families, single professionals and students. There's a lot of development happening around the Rhode Island Ave. Metro Station, Home Depot and Giant. Chancellor's Row just off 4th Street NE has new townhouses. There are still some rough edges, but the neighborhood is changing every day!"
  • wtersch
"I've lived in Edgewood for a year and half and am glad I moved to the neighborhood. Folks take pride in the community and are friendly and welcoming. There is a very active Edgewood listserv (Yahoo group), plus an Edgewood Civic Association. The first Saturday of each month, I help with a neighborhood cleanup. Many other neighbors come out and help remove litter and keep the area looking nice, then we enjoy a friendly and free hot dog lunch. Proximity to the new Metropolitan Branch Trail for biking and running is a big plus; the trail leads to the Capitol, which is only 2.5 miles south of Edgewood. In terms of transport, the Rhode Island Station development at the Metro station is adding new businesses and residents to this Metro-friendly area, plus there are frequent buses along Rhode Island Avenue. I like living in Edgewood -- close to everything, yet, for now, relatively affordable -- and am definitely sticking around."
