He has been getting good grades all year, especially in reading. He started the school year off knowing how to read and ended the school year reading chapter books proficiently. His spelling is great. He started the school year not knowing how to hold a pencil properly and now knows how to hold it and his writing is great. He loves his teacher and teachers assistant. He has made many friends. He is a picky eater but enjoys the lunch food. He really loves the different specials that they have. Stem is one of his favorites. PE is another favorite because they do a lot of different fun activities. His teacher does a wonderful job at communicating with us. He uses an app to talk to families and we’ve never had any issues with that. The Wakefield schools are located in the heart of a beautiful and supportive community in north Raleigh. There are numerous rigorous course offerings and more club offerings than you can count. They ranked in the top 4% in the state for student academic growth. The sports programs are solid and often times also top ranking at the district and state level. Teachers will rarely listen to or try to understand a student's point of view. The administration will ignore many student concerns without any investigation unless parents interfere. Many of the work handed is just busy work and rarely has an impact on student learning. There are some helpful teachers but there are even more cruel teachers. It's incredibly hard to fix grades that a student didn't deserve without parental interference. I think this area appears to be safe and pleasant for children as far as I have observed.
