3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Average1 star is too many for this school. The only reason anyone goes here is to get an automatic seat at Pompano Beach High. Trust me when I say that your child will not be prepared for the rigorous curriculum at PBHS after attending Crystal Lake. One year at that school, and my childs FSA scores dropped & reading level dropped. Tremendously. Thank goodness for the competent teachers at the middle school across town where I moved my child. One quarter, and he is back on track from all of the damage done at Crystal Lake. If you are a 5th grade parent who is in the tough dilemma of deciding which middle school to send your child to, DO NOT choose this one. Do not fall for the jazzy shows and presentations this school does to entice you to apply for their magnet program. "Have lived here for 35 years. Cresthaven is experiencing a rebirth with new construction, remodels and upgraded homes throughout. It is close by car or bus to Amtrak, TriRail commuter rail, hospitals, doctor, dental and eye care facilities, Costco. BJ's Wholesale, I-95, Florida's Turnpike and U.S. 1. Within walking distance you can find a mall with Macy's, Sears, Penney's and Lowe,s among others; also restaurants, fast food, banks, car repair, car rental, drug stores, supermarkets, pack & ship stores, jewelers, opticians, shoe repair, tailoring, shoe stores, insurance agents, pet supply, office supply, discount stores and schools. Fort Lauderdale International Airport is less than 30 minutes away and the beach about 10 minutes by car. Cresthaven has its own park and Pompano's largest park (with tennis, swimming, basketball, softball, baseball and more) and the city's municipal golf course is about 5 minutes south. Ask anybody who owns here about Cresthaven area. Oh! And Pompano beach has some of the best weather in Broward County."
