Lovely 2BD/1BA home plus lower 1BR/1BA in-law unit available for 10 months ONLY. This sweet Upper Rockridge property is available September 1 and can be rented fully furnished, partially furnished, or empty.

The house is set up from the street, with a set of red stairs leading first to a sundeck with expansive bay views and cozy patio furniture - perfect for enjoying the sunset over the city. The second set of red stairs lead up to the front porch and main entrance. The front door opens into a large, bright living room/dining room with a decorative fireplace, wide plank hardwood floors, and more amazing bay views from two large picture windows. A set of french doors lead from the dining area out to the back patio, with a large rock fireplace and flat area for outdoor dining or fireplace chatting. The two bedrooms are on the left of the dining area, one overlooking the front of the house and one overlooking the back. Both are sunny and ample sized, with hardwood floors and deep closets. An updated full bathroom with a shower over tub separates the two bedrooms. To the right of the dining area is the sweet kitchen, with stainless steel appliances, gas stove, and a corner sink overlooking the backyard with nice counter and cabinet space on both sides.

The backyard above the rear patio and fireplace is terraced with rock retaining walls, wide planting spaces, and trees. On the right side of the patio is a staircase leading down the side of the house to a perfect in-law/office unit, completely separate from the rest of the home. It's a narrow, carpeted space with a small lofted twin bed, kitchenette, and full bathroom with tub and shower. There are windows - also with bay views! - all along the front wall, making this cozy, private space bright and inviting. Great for parents working from home, visiting relatives, or au pair quarters.

Fantastic Upper Rockridge location - just a short jaunt to Temescal Lake, Village market, and all the great restaurants and shops on College Avenue. Rockridge BART is 2 miles downhill, and Holy Names and St. Teresa's schools are just a few blocks away.

"It is beautiful and has very friendly neighbors and hence this is a very unique neighborhood. Fff"
  • RG
"We are actually above Upper Rockridge across Broadway Terrace, toward Montclair near Moraga Ave. Lived here for 33 years and love it. Feels like a small community instead of part of a city."
  • Mesmith237
"It’s a nice community. People do look out for each other. Some negatives like any neighborhood... but the positives easily outweigh these, which are mostly simply about living in any urban area... we have issues, we know, we care and we try our best to improve. "
  • Runr26mile
"We just moved here and we love it! Beautiful scenery, friendly neighbors and conveniently located to Downtown, Rockridge, Montclair, and Berkeley. We couldn’t be happier. "
  • Lawrence G.
"There is easy freeway access, and we are close to BART."
  • Barbr7
"Great neighbors. Beautiful homes. People have lived here 60+ years and mentor the newcomers. We have survived a devastating wildfire and most rebuilt. We are a community. "
  • Nick M.
"There are many people with dogs in the neighborhood. Some people walk their dogs at Mountain View Cemetery or in the Redwood Hills or at Lake Temescal. People often walk their dogs in the neighborhood, too. In such a hilly area, it's easy to get a workout in."
  • Lawrence G.
"It's a safe neighborhood, an easy place to walk your pets. There are very few parks, but everything else is fine."
  • Lawrence G.
"This is a nice quiet neighborhood in the ideal location. It's not a housing tract. It has a diverse population and great schools."
  • Nick M.
"Our neighborhood in the Oakland Hills is sunny and quiet but very close to great activities, restaurants, and places to visit. The neighborhood also has an amazing school."
  • Nick M.
"The AC Transit bus that takes you right into the city is very relaxing and often has wifi and comfy seats. You can also drive down to Rockridge and take either BART or casual carpool. These three options make commuting into SF super easy. Commuting to the South Bay is harder because you often have to drive and there's a great deal of traffic."
  • Nick M.
"Hillcrest School is amazing and has an extremely strong PTA that raises lots of funds that allow the school to hire about a dozen extra staff. It's an amazing school and community. There are plenty of parks nearby in Montclair, Rockridge, and Lake Temescal. In Oakland, you have many things to do for kids, like the zoo, Fairyland, and much more. Upper Rockridge is a safe neighborhood. Some streets are busier with cars and not every street has a sidewalk, but it's generally a place where young kids are safe to walk around."
  • Lawrence G.
"It's a nice friendly place with great schools. Unfortunately some schools are oversubscribed and getting in is by lottery."
  • Nick M.
"I moved here with my family five years ago and we love it here. It's a neighborhood with lots of families. Often, older seniors or young families with kids at the local schools (often Hillcrest). We got lucky to find a home here and can't imagine leaving. There's great access to restaurant and stores on College and Montclair. They're building a brand new shopping center on Broadway that we're excited about. There are many parks to visit for kids nearby. And driving to SF is easy. Honestly, though we don't miss SF and head to downtown Oakland if we're ever in need of something more. Commuting into the city is super easy from here. You can take the bus which is very relaxing. Or you can drive down to Bart or casual carpool and leave your car there to head into the city."
  • Heli P.
"Rockridge is where everyone wants to live these days simply because it has everything. "
  • Lc
"Easy access to top notch services, restaurants and transportation. A gorgeous walking neighborhood with views and established trees. Very friendly neighbors for a sense of community, and a variety of professions and interests brings a cosmopolitan tone. Claremont Pines is on the first hills of Upper Rockridge, adjacent the Claremont Country Club & Golf Course. It is a fantastic blend of North Berkeley, Montclar and Piedmont communities in the best of Rockridge. We need to move, and know we are leaving a rare environment within the Bay Area. "
