7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son has been going to Las Flores since pre-school. He is now in 4th grade and has thoroughly enjoyed his experience so far. He is learning in all aspects of subjects...Math, Science, English, Reading, Social Studies, STEM, Art, Music and more. I love the school's motto, "Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Ready to Learn". The the PTA is very involved and provide many activities and opportunities for the kids. There also many after school programs provided (for a fee) by Saddleback College. My son has enjoyed golf after school. Overall it's been a positive learning, supportive environment for our child. 8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageUnfortunately, I must give this school one star due to their lack of seriousness regarding school threats. In December 2022, a student whispered to my son that he had a gun in his backpack. Alarmed by this comment, my child notified his teacher. The teacher did not check the child's backpack or issue disciplinary action. The school failed to handle the situation appropriately. They did not notify me of the incident. Once I became aware of this situation, I spoke to the teacher, who was very cold and non-responsive to my concerns.I requested to meet with the principal. She was very friendly. However, she informed me that there was a full investigation, and the students seemed to be joking. They did not call the police or file a police report. They did not conduct a welfare check and refused to notify other parents of the incident. The student was allowed to remain in school and sit beside my child. As if nothing had happened. I called the school district, which also brushed it under the rug, and refused to provide me with an incident report on the investigation findings. In this climate, things should have been handled much differently. A gun in a backpack is no laughing matter. Something similar happened at my family members' school in orange county, and the school was on top of it, even notifying all of the parents, calling the police, etc. It became apparent to me that the school just dropped the ball because they don't care for the welfare of our children. 10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI started this school year with many expectations for a good educational environment, but sadly, my experience has been nothing more than disappointing. The teachers at this school seem more interested in assigning work than actually engaging with their students. The teachers here have made me not want to talk to them. For example, the teachers at this school are very very rude. The way they speak to you is unacceptable. They will talk to you like you dont belong at this school. There were many times that during a situation it was their fault, but instead of apologizing they always blamed me for their mistakes. Other times they were angry and treated me with their anger. This is honestly unacceptable. Firstly, the school environment is far from conducive to learning. The classrooms are outdated and lack the necessary resources. The classrooms at this school are so old it is unbelievable. It feels like stepping back in time when you walk through the halls. The facilities desperately need an upgrade, and the overall ambiance is stale and uninspiring. The counselors are equally disappointing in their roles. My attempts to communicate with them about my academic progress were met with indifference. Whenever I tried to talk to them they were either unavailable or I had to wait weeks to see them and even then they would try to have a talk that I already knew. Its very disappointing to see such a lack of concern for the students. It seems like they are just there to fulfill a requirement rather than genuinely caring about the students future. They have the most important job, yet they know nothing about their job or the answers to your questions. Moreover, the extracurricular activities offered are minimal. Also the traffic and carpool situation adds an unnecessary layer of stress to the daily routine. The schools inability to manage the flow of vehicles during drop off and pick up times reflects a lack of planning and consideration. Its disappointing that Tesoro cannot implement an efficient and streamlined carpool system to alleviate the burden on parents and ensure a smoother daily experience. In conclusion, Tesoro High School has been a letdown in almost every aspect. From the outdated facilities to the indifferent teachers and counselors, its clear that this institution is not invested in providing a quality education or a supportive environment for its students. "Lived here for 5 years and it is an amazing neighborhood. My neighbors are like extended family. Quite, peaceful and safe . I sometime take my dog outside at midnight, I never had any issues here "

"We have events all through the year such as pool parties for adults, movie nights, and 'snow days'. The association keeps the neighborhood nice with repairs to the pools and other shared spaces. "

"Really nice area, but the outer row of homes backs right to O'Neill Regional park. If you have a dog or cat, don't leave them in your (small) backyard. Coyotes are active in this area. During the summer, there are rattle snakes that come into your yard (I live there, and just want people to know). Also, the roads in the Avelino development are narrow and busy - with drivers who don't seem to care that this is a residential setting. They drive too fast to save a nanosecond of two getting to their homes. Dangerous for kids... Don't let them play in the street!"
