7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePros rest mainly with the schools themselves, cons with the now dominant community of parents. Small classes, safe, caring teachers. Some outstanding teachers who go above and beyond and many duds. CSH used to be a classy quiet community of educated families where no one knew who was wealthy and who wasn't...that was not the priority. Now the district has been newly flooded with beer bellied finance bros and families who have inherited a business who are desperate to show their net worth to anyone who will look and relive their own youth through their kids sports. The social environment feels like a High School from the 80's except the mean kids are dominant. Many families pull kids each year from the school due to as many people call it "an awful grade". The secret sauce to all of this is not only the lack of diversity but mainly the lack of economic diversity. Parents want so badly for their kids to be cool they even supply their very young kids alcohol for parties. If you are leaving NYC and looking for a progressive learning and social environment this is not it. Our town recently voted in a BOE member who openly supports "Don't Say Gay" and rejects inclusion. The new Superintendent seems to be capable and intelligent and we are hopeful that she can move the district ahead and help it not go back in time.Parent Review1y ago - Lloyd Harbor School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son completed his kindergarten at Goosehill, and we are very happy to see how much he had learned and grown in a year. He is now able to read short fiction and non-fiction books on his own, and he begs us to take him to the Cold Spring Harbor Library every week. All parents in his class were very involved, from volunteering in school activities to after-school social events & play dates. Very close knit. Class sizes are small (less than 20) so each kid gets plenty of attention and teachers really tailor their teaching according to my son's specific interests and abilities. This school convinces us that we made the right decision to relocate to Lloyd Harbor. Highly recommended if you are searching for the best school district for your own kids.Parent Review9y ago - Check out schools near 23 Seacrest Dr.

"A quiet, safe neighborhood with a good mix of young families and older people who watched their own kids grow up here. Flat, wide streets perfect for bike riding and walks with neighbors and pets. It’s convenient to highways, town, train station and schools but remains tucked away and private. A really nice place to live."

"The neighborhood association organizes a Halloween party, Easter egg hunt and Christmas caroling w/visit from Santa for children every year. The local fire department drives through the neighborhood the week before Christmas with Santa to bring holiday cheer to the residents. The people living here are quite friendly, saying hello and stopping to chat even with new residents. It’s a really lovely, quiet place to live that’s conveniently located and family-friendly."

"I was born and raised in Huntington Station! Now I may not like the area too much as it is changing rapidly and we had to install an alarm system but I feel our block is safe and I love our neighbors! At least most of them. Some of the neighbors on our block down attend to their houses and keep them in such a disarray that it was really embarrassing! I wish I could get their act together and realize that it really does affect all of us"

"I've lived in this neighborhood for over 11years and have enjoyed it. It's a harworking class community that is in the center of a lot of transit options and 5 mins from downtown Huntington with all that has to offer . It's an up and coming area that's still relatively affordable for the region . I would reccomend living or renting here ."
