About this House

Gutted to the studs and fully renovated in 2008 - we are the only owners since that time. 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths upstairs. Fully finished basement with 1/2 bath, laundry, and large tiled play room / family room / 4th bedroom. Family room, table space kitchen with 2 large pantries, full sized dining room and another 1/2 bath on main level. Small yard and 1-car garage out back. Front yard is elevated and set back from the street, with a huge covered porch. 5 blocks from Stadium Armory Metro Station, and D6 bus stop across the street. 15 minute walk to entertainment on H Street, Eastern Market or Barracks Row. Just a few blocks from Lincoln Park, the brand new Rosedale Recreation Center (with library and outdoor pool), and many fabulous neighborhood playgrounds. IN BOUNDS FOR MAURY ELEMENTARY, one of the most sought-after schools on the Hill.

Neighborhood Description

This house is on the East end of Capitol Hill, close to RFK Stadium. We are outside the historic district, which means the homes are bit larger and less expensive, and there are fewer restrictions about what can/cannot be done aesthetically. There have been many other gut-renovations on our block in the 5 years we've lived here, and as a result there is a very diverse mix of newcomers with young children and older families that have lived in their homes for over 50 years. The Hill is truly a community, with many wonderful retail and restaurant options, numerous playgrounds filled with young families, and several lively neighborhood listservs (newhilleast and MOTH to name a few). We absolutely love it here.

"I grew up near this area and came back a few years ago. The development and diversity have improved a great deal and great things are coming. There is still some work that needs to be done to minimize the loitering and such but when you grow up in DC itโ€™s less of an issue."
  • Jason
"very nice and peaceful. it's a great place to live. ....................................................."
  • Laray O.
"There is a chilli festival almost every year in stadium amorys parking lot. If that doesnโ€™t happen the fair comes every year too. "
  • G on E street
"Iโ€™ve observed that thereโ€™s a lot of Cars that speed in the alleyways in this neighborhood. It could use more speed bumps to improve pedestrians safety "

Not too far from Union Station where you can commute to other areas using the yellow and green lines. Also use the trolley which is free fare. So you can explore the restaurants on H Street and the Pubs."
