5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePoor communication from school. Sure they post the usually social media links. Just very vague and unfriendly when you speak to them personally. That’s not the only reason for poor rating but I’m just glad my kids almost done. Worst school they’ve attended. Bullying, drugs, huge lack of funding (community hates talking about money being raised / Taxes raised to help with school), rude staff and teachers. Then there’s waayyyy to much outside influence from whatever buzzword politicians are pushing that people that don’t even have kids in the school want to push. Or people that do have kids and just don’t know better. Leave the teaching to the teachers and leave the politics out of it.Parent Review1y ago - Camden Middle

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePositives are the small student body size overall. Student teacher ratio is still about 25-1. The neg.’s are they don’t not offer honor classes to student. The work doesn’t seem challenging enough for those students transferring in from honors classes from other schools. The school itself is well maintained. The administration staff is friendly and informative but it can be difficult at times to get a direct answer on certain issues or for them to follow up on issues. Overall the school is ok. 7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child was hurt on the playground, supposedly there were four teachers watching kindergartners however none noticed nor helped him. His recess was early in the day therefore he interacted with various faculty throughout the day. Upon picking him up I noticed abrasions with dirt and dried blood on his knees and elbow. This occurred during the beginning of the school year, he was wearing shorts and a short sleeve shirt. I followed up with the teacher immediately who showed no concern other than to inform me of how many teachers were “watching” the kids. Follow up with the principal produced no results, she said she would investigate and get back with me, that never came to fruition. My child only attended for a couple weeks before I pulled him, in that time he began writing letters backwards, demonstrated behavioral problems, dreaded going to school and crying daily, told me numerous times about rules and what he couldn’t do and what the teachers wouldn’t help him with. 6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePost Covid materials rarely if ever make it home. Test are administered via computer however results aren’t immediately available. No feedback is given on test scores, ie teachers do not grade papers. Study guides for end of week test make it home the Friday prior to week of test, on a three day weekend. Parents receive a study guide to help their student as teachers do not go over material. Teachers are merely presenting material, rather than making it connect. "Halfway between the OBX and Norfolk. Perfectly situated for Town and Country living. My commute is easy to Norfolk. Summer can be a busy time but once you are here, it is worth it."

"We have monthly get-together that are usually potluck. We are an RV community that includes weekly and daily rentals across the park. Most of us are retired seasonal visitors who move south in the winter. "
