"We just moved a year ago to Vallejo and LOVE it! Our neighbors are very friendly (they always say hi and often stop to chat, they bring our garbage cans back when we forget, they watch our pets when we’re on vacation etc) and everyone takes good care of their houses and yards. We used to live in San Francisco and know that Vallejo has a bad rap but I think the sketchy parts are really only limited to small areas (we don’t even know which ones are not good, we haven’t seen any areas that are that bad and it’s definitely way better than so many areas in San Francisco, like the Mission and the Tenderloin!) We’re in our late twenties and love the proximity to Napa to go wine tasting with friends. The weather is out of this world, it’s pretty much always sunny, warmer than San Francisco but a lot less hot during Summer than the East Bay or Napa. Plants grow very well thanks to this weather (we have fruits trees and just planted a ton of vegetables, which are doing amazing). All in all, we love Vallejo because of its diversity and community, weather, proximity to wine country and to San Francisco, and so many more reasons. We couldn’t have found a better place to live and believe that Vallejo is a hidden gem of Northern California. Not surprising why it was so hard to find a house here and that prices keep going up!
