"Living in the High Desert is quiet and peaceful. The schools have a low ratio of pupils to teacher. Shopping is only 25 minutes away. In my opinion it's a great place to live!"
  • Ragedit2
"I have lived in the area for going on 10 yrs. This area is good for off roading, hiking and horse back riding. Entertainment & Nightlife is what you make it your in the wide open. Palm springs is but a 47.3 mi, 58 mins . Big Bear Lake is but 57.9 mi, 1 hour 12 mins. Oceanside is 143 mi, 2 hours 23 mins. San Diego is 210 mi, 3 hours 21 mins. "

"Where else in Southern California can you live and feel so far away from the problems of the city, yet be close enough to drive back in less than 20 min. Stars are incredible, largest off road riding area in the world, so quiet you can hear yourself think. It gets hot, but not THAT hot, this is high desert. The very hotest I've ever experienced was 114, and that was only twice. Summer temps are typically around 95 to 100. To keep cool we use evaporative coolers which work as well as air conditioning yet use a very small fraction of the power. Life here is good, IF you are retired, work from home, or work in one of the nearby towns. Johnson Valley has a neighborhood association that serves up a great Saturday morning breakfast, and monthly diners. Very inexpensive to live here. Orange County is only 2 hours away. A bit to far to commute, but within an easy drive which I do often. Many interesting things to see and do, check it out."

"I've been visiting the Meditation Center on Reche Road for years now. Quite a few people have relocated near there to be close to the peaceful atmosphere that the place exudes. It's not unusual to have 100 or so local folks of all faiths show up for some or the activities and get a chance to know one another. Landers attracts the kind of people that like their solitude and peace but they always have a freindly greeting at the post office and such. Views abound... Goat Mountain, San Jacinto, wonderful night skies and smog free air to breath. Summers can be warm but thanks to the dry climate the inexpensive evaporative coolers work wonderful and as for the winter temps -- mild and sunny for the most part. If you are a shop a holic or need to eat out often you'll need to drive the 20 minutes to Yucca Valley or Joshua Tree but if you are looking to be out of the hustle bustle of traffic and people Landers is worth considering. Cost of living is pretty reasonable too!"

"i live here and i think that is a really bad place to live more if you live alone it a lonely place and scary at nights."
