3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a review from someone who is not from the area. We relocated to Pittsburgh a year and a half ago so we we're not familiar with the area or the schools around us, and I always take reviews with a grain of salt. We are on the border between Brentwood & Carrick and were unsure what school my daughter would end up at, but lets be honest, we were hoping for Brentwood because.. reviews. Hate to say that but like I said, I didn't have any understanding of the area all that much and the move happened fast. But my daughter is now in her second year and it's really unfortunate that this school gets so much hate because coming in from a whole different state was stressful enough for her but there's been nothing but good support for her from admin and her classmates. I'm not familiar with anything going on there that would warrant such a bad review. My wife is more active with her activities than I but no red flags have ever come up. Her grades are consistently well, and there's been more than enough opportunities for her to get more help when she needed it. We're always in the know about what's going on.. sometimes a little TOO much with the emails but I think that's a minor nuisance and not even that big of a deal.I hope parents will do their homework when it comes to their kids education. It's easy to rely on a few bad reviews or get fixated on external things. I'll leave my review up until something changes.Parent Review1y ago8 Reviews - Pittsburgh Allegheny 6-8

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is phenomenal. We are so fortunate to go here. Our daughter loves school, has made wonderful friends. From the first week the teachers all seem to know every child by name. Students are greeted each morning with an all-school assembly with drumming, singing, a welcome message by the Principal, and the school rock band rocking out. Its a fantastic way to start the day! There are tons of field trips, lots of art and music incorporated into each day. We love it here!Parent Review8y ago5 Reviews - Pittsburgh Arlington K-8

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFor the last four years my boys have been students at Arlington, one being on the Autism spectrum, that right there already tells a lot as a parent. The first day we felt welcomed and supported by staff. My children have flourished in this environment, developing a love for learning that I attribute to the school's nurturing approach. Some may have different opinions on Arlington and that's ok, I'm here to let you know this 100% community school is filled with amazing teachers and staff that care about their student's well-being and growth. We lack parent engagement. A handful of dedicated parents and I started the PTO, we're proud of that! We will continue to support and help the amazing teachers, staff, and other parents and guardians keep Arlington safe and positive learning environment. "I live right near Arlington, a bus line, so that's really nice. but getting anywhere past the river that isn't downtown is 40+ minute commute; 30 minutes if the busses line up (rare, & if you expect it, the 48 WILL be late to the nearest transfer bus) and could be over an hour if it's not on another bus line or it's away from oakland, greenfield, etc. I recommend private transportation if you have anyy debilitating reasons you don't choose to walk. but if you love to walk, the slopes are perfect commute-wise. "Goatfest! Also the baseball games up here. When I was younger, the neighborhood parents would have get togethers for the neighborhood kids."

"There are sidewalks for walking but from my experience there is never much yard space. However there are a lot of dogs in the neighborhood."

"There is a very nice dog park for small and large dogs. There are coffee shops and restaurants in the area that allow dogs. There is a very clean and respected veterinary clinic. One of the biggest negatives is the lack of yards and grass in the area. There are hiking trails and a huge park that we often take our own dog too at the top of the slopes. "
