About this House
This exceptional condominium home is one of three penthouse units in Madison Park Place, a five-story luxury building situated on the shores of Lake Washington. From its top-floor perch, the condominium enjoys panoramic views that embrace both floating bridges, the Bellevue skyline and the Cascade Mountains. Architect Norman Sandler endowed the two-bedroom with den/library home with fine detailing, rich finishes and custom features throughout. Elizabeth Sandler provided complementary interior design.
The building, located near the village-like amenities of Madison Park, has an inviting entry courtyard with raised planters and a well appointed lobby. Building amenities include on-site management with 24-hour call service, designated parking and an indoor swimming pool with a spa, showers and changing rooms.
Heavy paneled French doors open from the top floor hallway to an expansive entry area with wainscot walls and luxe Calacatta Gold marble tile floors. A skylight illuminates the space by day; concealed silk-wrapped bulbs produce a warm glow at night. Pocket doors divide the entry from a library with 9-foot ceilings and walls lined in mahogany cabinetry and display shelving. Floors are white oak with walnut insets. A television tops a gas fireplace trimmed with black granite.
The long hallway that leads to the main living area is equipped with a wet bar. The generous-sized living room has a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows that provide breathtaking water and mountain views. French doors open to a terrace that affords front row seats to year-round activities on the lake, from sailing regattas to the Christmas ships. A window on the south wall of the living room frames a view of Mt. Rainier. Other features include a soffit-lit ceiling and walnut-stained display cabinetry with steel and black granite accents. A gas fireplace, also trimmed in steel and granite, is topped by a TV concealed behind a sliding panel.
A wide passage with folding paneled doors opens to the adjoining dining room. Floors in both rooms are white oak. The dining room has wainscot walls and a soffit-lit ceiling. Wall paneling conceals two cabinets for china and crystal storage; one has a lock and in-floor vault for silver.
High-end, custom cabinetry of vertical clear grain birch in the adjacent kitchen offers abundant storage space with special features. Counters are granite; floors are oak. A center island affords counter seating as well as more storage options. Top-of-the-line appliances include a Sub-Zero side-by-side refrigerator/freezer, U-Line wine cooler and Asko dishwasher. Ovens include a Viking convection oven and Dacor oven with microwave. A Dacor combination cook-top provides six burners - four gas and two electric. It is topped by a stainless steel hood. Just off the kitchen is a utility room with stacking laundry facilities by Bosch, a work sink set in a granite-topped counter and the hot water heater concealed in a closet.
A hallway with a linen closet on the opposite side of the entry area leads to two privately situated bedrooms. The master suite has a wall of built-in cabinets, one with a jewelry vault, and a big walk-in closet with shelving. A fabulous master bath designed by David DiMarco is appointed in gold Jerusalem Stone. Illuminated by a skylight, the bath has a granite-topped vanity with a dressing table and radiant heated floors. High-end fixtures are by Boyd. Both bedrooms have carpeted floors and north-facing views. A gorgeous three-quarter bath with Calacatta Gold marble floors and a water closet is situated near the entry area. It serves dayrooms as well as the guest bedroom.
The condominium has a large locked storage unit on a lower floor as well as two secured, under cover parking spaces.
