Description

Amazing opportunity to be the next stewards of one of the most historically significant homes in Little Compton. Built in 2 phases, the original meeting house in 1825 and added onto in 1840, the two periods of construction reflect the transition from Federal style to Greek Revival style architecture in the early 19th century. This 6-bedroom 3,044 sqft home offers many of the original historic details including bracketed cornices, large windows, original paneled doors and knobs, high ceilings, and beautiful wide-plank hardwood floors throughout. Located in the heart of the Little Compton’s town Commons, just steps to restaurants and coffee shops, and art galleries, as well as Wilburs General Store and the Little Compton Community Center. Buyer pays LCACT at closing.
This property is off market, which means it's not currently listed for sale or rent on Trulia. This may be different from what's available on other websites or public sources. This description is from October 13, 2023

"My neighborhood is a quiet seaside farming community. The town has a wonderful school system (grades K-8) and many nature trails for safe and picturesque hiking. "
  • Jmax109
"I don’t live here. I rented a house for the week to vacation with my family. The town tamarins very Rustic with no commercial coffee shops or chain restaurants. "
  • Chris v. T.
"Adamsville is a truly magical hamlet. Located between the open stone wall lined byways of Little Compton and the estuaries and rivers of Westport Ma, this quintessential New England Village is a great place to retire or raise a family. Crime is non-existent , the air is clean and smog free and everyone one owns a dog or three. Put this location on your list of New England's Best Kept Secrets and take a look. "
  • Julia F.
"Five miles from the beach! Walk to Adamsville post office, ice cream and convenience store. Lots of nature and privacy. LOW TAXES!!!"
  • Elmccur
"Wonderful neighbors. Views of the beach, walk to Adamsville Landing, walk to the ball field, walking paths, country store, gas station and pond."
  • MichaelSaks
"is how the New York Times described Little Compton several years ago. It is indeed largely undiscovered - bucolic, serene, visually beautiful and restful. I fell in love with LC in 1975, discovering it on a day trip a year after moving to Providence. I bought a second home here 17 years ago, and have been living here full time for the past six years. It is paradise in many ways - peaceful; small (pop. 2000 in 1890 and 3500 now); and with a citizenry actively committed to preserving its unspoiled character. I looked for thirteen years before finding my special spot, and never thought I would leave it. Like all places, LC has its drawbacks. Wilbur's General Store and the library are the extent of goods and services one would look for in a residential area. The nearest viable shopping is eleven miles away from the northern limits of town. Being a quintessential New England town, people largely keep to themselves, particularly in the winters, which can be interminably long and isolated. Apart from occasional civic activities - book sales, road races, etc., entertainment in town is non-existent. This makes it especially hard if you are single, or even a young couple. Over the years, many have found living here too isolating, and have moved away to areas where opportunities for socialization are clearly better. I have four neighbors who are "snow birds", spending six months of each year in Florida. This makes the winters more isolating. But when I asked them where they would prefer living when the time comes that they can no longer "relocate" twice a year, two chose Florida and two Little Compton. A dead heat. As retirement looms in the next two months, we have made the decision to sell our home and move to a small, historic, and largely unspoiled town in Florida, with nary a chain store in the downtown, with many shopping options nearby, and with a population that is friendly and inviting. C'est la vie. . "
