4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI went here in the 90's for 9th and 10th grade and grew up here. It's surprising graduates of the Ranch are even literate. I took my proficiency exam at 16 and somehow passed. When I got to college I had to start at the lowest level math and english classes available. We were rebels, but the classrooms, the kids ran them. I was usually way smarter than most kids but no teacher pushed me to excel and I had to push myself after I graduated with my proficiency diploma. I think the problem is a combo of teachers that aren't really equipped or interested in guiding the kids towards success, and probably to some extent a lack of parental involvement. You can see from the test scores it's just barely an average school. I'm a parent now and my spouse have I have worked hard and always prioritized living in good public school districts for our kids. Mine are in high school now and they are at a 10/10 school. I see the difference at every level, from teacher involvement, parent involvement, the coursework, homework load, expectations of students. We had none of that. Many of us still managed to be reasonably successful adults though.Other Review1y ago12 Reviews - Monte Vista Elementary School

"I commute to Berkeley every day. If you leave Rohnert Park around 6:30 or seven in the morning, you will avoid all the traffic going to San Francisco or East Bay . Now that they completely reopened the freeway to three lanes all the way to Santa Rosa. There is almost no traffic. "

"Rohnert park is very safe and friendly. It is a college town, but mostly I see elderly people here and would love to see some younger generations making this place their home"

"There’s nowhere for teenagers to hang out And unless they go to a park, the town is involved in sports and has a good support system. Most neighborhoods are nice well suited for kids, but the crime is increasing w/time."

"Sometimes people do not leash their dogs with no recall, although rare it happens. Dogs also jump fences here and tend to get out. Other than that I would say it is a very safe place for dogs as far as cleanliness. Definitely a lot of dog owners here. "

"There is no downtown in ROHNERT Park. The city is sectioned off and each section A-M of the alphabet has a park."

"I’ve lived in Rohnert Park for over a year and really like the convenience of having everything I need around me like grocery stores and the freeways. Housing is expensive though and sometimes it doesn’t feel safe to walk around certain areas alone. "

"People drive recklessly it’s pretty unsafe and I see parents letting their toddlers walk alone around parking lots and streets I’ve had to tell parents to watch their kids and have had to yell at drivers on multiple occasions when a child was almost hit."

"Every neighborhood has its designated park which is great to raise children in. That being said, the rising housing costs make it unaffordable for most people to live here. There are also some college parties that can get loud at times. Other than that it’s a decent little town."

"Plenty of sidewalks, open fields and a dog park close by. Nice climate usually cool evenings and nice days. Rarely does it stay hot very long. Yes "
