7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children attended Edison Elementary School from preschool through 4th grade.My children are multilingual at home, so for the first year they did not understand much English, but with the support of the teachers at the school, they learned English and were able to talk a lot with their friends and teachers.When the school was closed due to Covid-19, the teachers were quick to respond. They were also considerate to students for whom English is a second language, and thanks to them, my children were able to enjoy learning and speaking English without any difficulty.At Edison Elementary School, there were various events for parents and children, and we were able to participate in them and enjoy the school together.The principal, Mr. Okazaki, is very reassuring because he is fluent in many other languages and speaks the language.I highly recommend Edison Elementary School.Parent Review1mo ago - Philip Magruder Middle School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school simply has too much homework. It makes it hard for kids to have any extra-curricular activities. Teachers seem to like busy-work over learning in class. There is a reason more families are deciding to go to other schools in Torrance to avoid this undue stress, which serves no purpose other than to increase the anxiety levels of the students. Another problem is each teacher gives out differing levels of homework, so one student in one class may have less while another may have a lot more, studying the same subject but with a different teacher. "I have lived in the neighborhood for 20 years and seen many changes. Older homes are being torn down and replaced by two on A Lot. I don’t think there’s one house in the neighborhood that sells for less than $800,000. The area is very walkable to grocery stores, retail outlets, a lovely park, and public transportation. The neighborhood is very dog, friendly, but other than that very few neighbors know each other there are no community events "
