I’m a current student at this school, and honestly, it’s horrible. I used to be free of anxiety of any form before attending trigg county and now I can’t go a day at school without a panic attack. The teachers don’t control the students, and the principal blames victims instead of helping them, they also preach about talking to a “trusted adult” but when you actually want to go speak to one, they won’t let you out of class to go talk to someone you’re comfortable with. The bullying is also intense, I’ve watched other students punch kids and touch them inappropriately in front of teachers with nothing done consequence wise. The school also favors athletes over academic students, they’ve spent six million dollars on an indoor athletic building instead of repairing the school buildings and buying new supplies, meanwhile the athletes that use the building have never won a trophy or money for the school, yet our academic students have but get little to no respect for it. The teachers here preach for kindness, fairness and support but never show any, they hire teachers with no former experience to handle children that have repeatedly been suspended or given detention. They also have caught people being inappropriate in bathrooms, smoking, vaping, doing illegal substances and done nothing for it except suspension, this school has also been threatened with shootings and hit lists many times, and the students that have threatened it and actually made a plan for it get no consequences. The food has also been expired for months sometimes, including milk, which students have drank not knowing it was expired, and the food is horrendous as well, most of its slop and I could bet genuine money that a prison serves better food to prisoners. this school hardly cares for its students, in fact, it only cares about the money from government funding.

The teachers at this school are very knowledgeable regarding their subject area, are caring and positive. Overall, the student behavior is good, with very few serious discipline incidents. My children graduated from this high school and were prepared for careers in engineering and medicine, performing well in college coursework. The number of dual-credit college courses available to TCHS students is impressive for a school this size. The opportunities for success are there if students want to access them.
