"Our community has most everything we need so don’t need to go to the closest bigger city very often."
  • Sroberts10
"Lots of community events, great parks and walking/biking paths, local rec center and wonderful library."
  • Dunfamily55
"Derby is a lovely, small city with easy access to Wichita, both east and west sides of the city. It Is a very safe place to live, with very little crime, extremely decent schools & nice city amenities here too. The Derby Recreation Center has many excellent programs for all ages of children and families. Worth checking that out, since it’s a great way to meet locals if you’re new to Derby. The public library here in Derby is absolutely fantastic as well. The people are mostly friendly and welcoming & it’s a lovely place to live, with really everything you need so trips into Wichita are mostly unnecessary to have to make. "

"It’s a safe city here in Derby. It’s close to Wichita but feels a little isolated, enough that nobody comes down here from Wichita just to cause trouble, it doesn’t seem like. Schools Seem to be good & sports programs in the schools seem to be doing well. There’s a fairly nice senior center for exercising here in Derby too. "
  • Lisa B
"I have nothing to say for the most part. Have tried to meet neighbors in the three years living here. However, only one friendly one. "
  • Sroberts10

"We have a great elementary school, we live right across the street from the high school. The main Derby shopping is just a few blocks away. You can find your church home not too far away from home. High park is just a bike ride away. Our neighborhood puts on the best 4th of July display every year and it has the best view of High Park’s display also!"
  • Marissa S.
"There are many dogs that live around the area, and almost all are friendly dogs. But there are some that are not on leashes. "
