"Public transportation is within a block or two of everyoneโ€™s house. I donโ€™t use it often, so I donโ€™t really know how much time is involved. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the furthest place you could go in Minneapolis/St. Paul from here by car. Suburbs, maybe 45. Most things you need for errand are within 15 minutes."
  • Trulia User
"Cars drive fast, Main Streets are busy with people and traffic. Neighbors are pretty quiet and pretty."
  • Trulia User
"This is a heavily traveled thoroughfare. One should practice patience and understanding. overall this is a beautiful blend of old world charm with me world finesse."
  • Trulia User
"Highland is a safe, relatively quiet neighborhood in St Paul. It is a little boring though, and could use better bike lanes and trails. "
  • Trulia User
"I've been living in this area for almost 10 years, I love it and it's a great area for younger kids"
  • Bxmorin
"They would like the neighborhood walks. People are very polite about keeping dogs separated, and people like your dog. St. Kateโ€™s allows leashed dogs on campus, and they have a nice campus walk."
  • Amanda S.
"There are lots of dogs walking around the neighborhood. There are some nice dog parks in the area. There are good pet stores. "
  • Michael G.
"What I want parents to know...? Lots of multi family residents. Sometimes you can smell weed outside but never in doors. Look your cars all the time. 2sec head turn will be the last you see it. "
  • Dezireetoombs
"I always see neighbors walking there dogs. This neighborhood definitely welcomes dogs. I have not seen any issues with neighbors not picking up after dogs either. "
  • Bxmorin
"I drive every working day from Highland to Golden Valley. I leave at about 9am and return at about 7:00 pm. At those times it takes about 20 minutes to drive 12 miles on I94, and I-394 or MN-55."
  • David T.
"I have lived here for +5 years. Quiet neighborhood. No crime. Mix of families with children, empty nesters and retirees. Walk along the Mississippi and see deer, bald eagles, wild turkeys and the occasional coyote."
  • Jahmall J.

  • Thosfields
"I've lived in Highland for 31 years. It's a safe, walkable neighborhood of friendly people. Centrally located to everything. Definitely worth the premium we pay (higher $/sq. ft., higher taxes than most burbs) to live here."
  • Camia k.
"It's a great neighborhood. The people are friendly. There are great schools in the neighborhood for children to attend. There are plenty of stores that are in walking distance so a vehicle is not necessary. "
  • Camia k.
"I grew up in this neighborhood, lived here my whole life. It's friendly, and it has everything you need. "
  • Besseta77
"I've lived in this neighborhood for 11 years and I love it. the people are friendly and welcoming. I feel safe, even to take walks after dark. it's just a great neighborhood!"
  • Grace B.
"I've lived in this neighborhood for three years and love it. Folks are friendly and it's easy to walk most places. Rent is a bit high, but it's a sought after area, so that makes sense. Lots of big trees line the streets and they change beautifully throughout the seasons!"
  • Thosfields
"Excellent location in the Twin Cities. Great public transit, walk to dozens of shops, etc., 7 minutes drive to MSP airport, good sense of community."
  • Amblin1
"Pros: Beautiful neighborhood. Upper end housing stock. Multiple parks in the area. Golf course, disc golf, fishing nearby, walking paths, great area for pets, safe and secure. Cons: Very few quality restaurants, bars, or shopping. No retail within 8 blocks. Highland Park is a great neighborhood. It could be the next 50th and France but the vision for upscale shopping and dining just isn't there yet. "
